Newcastle are no longer a football club in the conventional sense but a mutation of Sports Direct http://flip.it/TEBZ- Not sure if this link is going to work but an interesting article about the debacle that Newcastle is becoming. On the one hand I feel sorry for the loyal fans but, on the other hand, I'm glad it's someone else and not us. If they drop this season I suspect they will not bounce back so easily last time.
Like them or loathe them, they need to appoint Pearson asap. Of course, he will only come if there is no DoF ............... so if Ashley really wants to stay up, he needs a clear out of manager and management. Pearson may not be the perfect manager but he, more than anyone else I can think of, has the backbone to kick some butt and get the team pulling together. Moyes may be a better manager in general but not in this situation. Anyway, just my thoughts, discuss .................................
Yet again Steve McClaren is facing an early exit. How many more times are we going to read that "he's a fantastic coach but not up to the job as a manager"? From his time at Man Utd everybody said what a great technical and football brain he's got but that hasn't transferred into success as the guvnor. Four horse race at the bottom of the Premiership, Villa are 99.99% gone already so it leaves The Toon, Sunderland and Norwich to fight it out. There is still a chance that one of them could put on a run and drag the likes of Bournemouth, Swansea and Palace into the drop zone but as it stands Newcastle have to be looking over their shoulders at The Championship. No bad thing as we'll get a sell out when they come to W12! Alan Shearer needs to shut his hole about how poor the players are, has he forgotten his stint as manager and how that turned out? If Newcastle kick out McClaren before the end of the season the fans best not be expecting Mr Shearer to save the day.
Maths a bit out Grove, think you need 2 teams to go on a run to drag other teams into the relegation battle, can see Sunderland achieving this, but Norwich and Newcastle I doubt it
