How refreshing it is to them play with no fear. Great win this evening, excellent goal from Mahrez and Vardy worked his socks off. Really hoping they can pull it off.
I feel a bit bad that I'm not totally behind Leicester like the rest of the non-elite football world seem to be. I'm pleased to see them break the mould and all that, but I just feel a bit like they've jumped the queue slightly. I've been rooting for Arsenal to win it for a few seasons now because they play good football .This season the Spurs side under Pochettino are exciting and Bilic's West Ham are very impressive too. I would prefer any of these over Leicester, who play long-ball, counter-attack football. It's effective against the so-called 'top' teams but they will find it hard to break down teams that set out to defend against them. I'm delighted for Leicester to get a Champions League place, but top spot? Nah.
When you listen to the overwhelming sense of entitlement of the Arsenal fans, Piers Morgan in particular, I'm delighted that an ordinary 'minnow' like Leicester, who were one of the pre-season relegation favourites, have stuck it up all the big teams playing a high-energy game which is much more entertaining than the overplayed 'perfection' Arsenal seem to be trying for and failing so spectacularly with. The goal Mahrez scored today was top-drawer in any league...
Just goes to show to what extremes both sides have now ventured. Well done Leicester.
I don't really care what Arsenal fans, or any of the other top clubs' fans, think. My point is more about whether I am happy about Leicester's style of play winning the league. I don't find them entertaining, I'm afraid.
In purist terms I agree, Arsenal have played lovely football for ages and Wenger (though increasingly unhinged and paranoiac) has stuck to his principles admirably. Their first goal today was the epitome of what they are - accurate, intricate, fast and full of skill. Plus I have some good mates who are Gooners and they have been great in getting me tickets to the Emirates and refusing to be paid except in beer and in resisting the urge to mock QPR.
Spurs are going to be a very good team for a long time, their chance will come. Haven't seen that much of West Ham.
But the sheer unlikelihood of Leicester winning it, the romance of it, and the fact that this is very likely to be their one and only chance forces me to root for them. Their style is direct but a bit more than lump it and hope, they have a fantastic spirit and Ranieri is charming and rather clever. My Leicester mate is a twisted alcoholic who needs psychiatric help but his constant state of elation this year has been a pleasure to behold, I shall enjoy watching him explode if they actually do it.
I suppose there's an element of jealousy on my part, but how would this Leicester side compare to our 1976 side?
Not a comparison I feel able to make. My feelings about that QPR team are not rational.
A rational, neutral comparison would surely say that our '76 team was infinitely superior to this Leicester side. Hence my jealousy. We deserved it because of the quality of our football. Leicester 2016 are no QPR 1976.
..long ball team??? We have a lot more to our style of play than that. Yes we can be direct when we need to be, but we play some superb one touch football through midfield hence why Kante has a shout of winning player of the season and Drinkwater is looking for an England call up.
