this is one i've yet to watch. got it in my 'ultimate gangster collection' boxset but never got round to it.
It will probably be the best in your collection , a lot of plots ...... Growing up , loyalty , racism , a war between family values and the grass on the other side of the mobsters ... Funny , sad ...got it all . One of those movies you can watch once a year and gets better .
other movies in the set are: scarface: good but overrated american gangster: terrible casino: an hour too long public enemies: watchable carlitos way: like it
Probably already been said by someone but; The Usual Suspects; kept me on the edge of my seat. Gladiator remains the best opening scene and 'action' film I've ever seen. Reservoir Dogs Fargo; made me piss myself throughout. Traffic; for gripping slow burner.
Didn't like or get all the way through any of those other movies scan , it's all a matter of taste and opinion though .
Miller's Crossing was pure class from start to finish "Look into your heart!" Outstanding performances all round. Not included in my best cinema experiences as only seen it on DVD. Not seen Full Metal Jacket on the big screen either but that would be in my top 5 every day of the week.
I have donnie brasco and OUATIA separately. just remembered the set also includes mean streets, never watched that either any good?
Watch Casablanca again, sober. And tell me if there's ever been more smart arse one liners in a movie script. Even Tarantino hasn't come close to writing snappy dialogue like that, and nobody delivers a wise crack better than Bogie. There's not a line in that film that isn't a gem, and not a single frame that couldn't be mounted on a poster. The attention to detail is breathtaking, and all that on a budget that wouldn't buy you a weekly shop at Waitrose. Oh, and Ingrid Bergman in white satin? I'm off to have a sherman.
Summat very very very bad happened in your formative years for you to attach such emotion and verve to summat as pointless as a moving picture show C'mon, Archie, me 'ol mate, me ol' mucker, tell yer Uncle Gambol... ...cry on ma shoulder. Then sook ma dick an **** off.
