That's to allow for information to be gathered....quite usual. Also gives Johnson time to sort his affairs out....though presumably he will have done some of that by now. They will know he is not a flight risk as everything he owns is here.

I know it's hardly on their scale, but the comment of the Nixon bloke [that journalist Alan, by any chance?] is typical of people with friendly favouritism towards celebrities. If you're guilty you're just as guilty whether you're the local chimney sweep or Prince Phillip or a favourite footballer. Justice for all.

EDIT: Actually, I've just read the possible sentence. Perhaps he may be on their scale after all.
