Actually it is a Miami businessman called Steve Ross who is behind this. Of course Murdoch could be looking over his shoulder. Talk about the Greed League ffs.

The sooner it happens the better, the big four/five/six and their glory hunting fans can **** off as soon as they want - they'll need to sign a no return clause before they go.

I don't think that Fifa / Uefa would allow it either.

Don't waste a second more worrying about it. It wont happen.

So long, fair well etc. i'd say, there would still be 92 teams wanting to play in the English leagues

Are you in so much of a hurry to post that you no longer actually read the post you're responding to? Which part of my post leads you to believe that I might be worrying? If the big clubs want it to happen, and I really hope they do, FIFA/EUFA won't stand in their way.

It would devalue the Premier league for me. Look at this way, should Leicester win the title this year, it would be a massive achievement, but without the big five, no big deal really.

this kind of thing has been suggested frequently over the last 30 or 40 years. closed leagues are a ridiculous idea. the fun of coming last in a closed league season after season would soon vanish.

I suppose this set up could be compared to what Rugby League did to their set up in a way, and I'm still not sure if its been a success or not for Rugby League.

Stoke City chairman Peter Coates has dismissed it as ""pie in the sky"".

The average 'glory hunting' fan will soon turn their back on 'their' team if they're competing in a European Super League and they're sat in the bottom six and only winning one game in four or such like.

My take is that most of the 'big' clubs would prefer to be the big fish in a small domestic pool rather then a small fish in a big one.

They may as well just name Barcelona as champions of this so called ""greedy league"" and have done with it. Would save so much time and trouble I guess. <laugh>

Don't kid yourself Chilton mate, football clubs are businesses, big clubs will go where the most money is - revenue from a European Super League would be astronomical, they'd be gone in a flash.

At best it is all down to other Eiuropean Clubs being jealous of the PL tv incomes.

As Peter Coates said this morning.......""pie in the sky"".

Those with 50k+ stadiums - why do you think there's a ground enlarging trend? The PL is all about income, bigger the ground, the greater the income ......... pigs at a trough comes to mind.

Our top PL clubs don't need to form any new league for starters.
