Not before he's tried rw/lw I hope. Bale wasn't a great defender was he, never know could be a stroke of genius, what do we have to lose.

the games he plays there cos i think he's as bad going forward and most of the chances he gets he either blazes wide or hammers the ball across without even looking. I think he is vastly over rated going forward.

the standard **** start to the season... to be fair he might be okay left wing but not sure he's got the brilliance of bale. He doesn't have that explosiveness and power.

nope. bale had direct pace o nthe ball and a hammer of a shot. this guy is much wolder than bale and most of the time it doesn't come off.

Bale is one of those exceptions IMO - there's a reason why Moreno plays full back and not winger - it's because he's not good enough to play there, hence dropped back.

I think it was Carra who said it that full backs are failed wingers.

Moreno isn't that bad going forward - very erratic though but still one of our very few creative outlets - we create so much down that left side.

Here's hoping that we bring in Ricardo Rodriguez.

Personally - if we are gonna spend big on first teamers - the 3 priorities are GK, RCB and CM. Build the spine first and the players around them are better protected. Then upgrade on them.

If the way Klopp wants to play relies on FBs for width then it's fine to go for a great one, otherwise it's not a priority <ok>

What he said was these days they seem to be failed wingers as nobody wants to grow up to be a Gary Neville <laugh>

Point being that that a lot of them are therefor pants defensively. If you've got quality mobile DM to cover you can sort of get away with it, but without you need your full back to defend properly first and then rely on the midfield and forwards to provide a bit of width.

on home grown players

europa is best we can even dream of now:

Rules:

42.01 Each club is responsible for submitting an A list of players (List A) and a B list of players (List B), duly signed, to its association for verification, validation, signature and forwarding to UEFA. These lists must include the name, date of birth, shirt number and name, nationality and national registration date of all players to be fielded in the UEFA club competition in question, as well as the surname and first name of the head coach. In addition, the lists must include the confirmation by 36 VII – Player Registration the club’s doctor that all players have undergone the requested medical examination; the club’s doctor is solely responsible for ensuring that the requested players’ medical examination has been duly performed.

42.02 No club may have more than 25 players on List A during the season, two of whom must be goalkeepers. As a minimum, eight places are reserved exclusively for "locally trained players" and no club may have more than four "association trained players" listed on these eight places on List A. List A must specify the players who qualify as being "locally trained", as well as whether they are "club trained" or "association-trained". The possible combinations that enable clubs to comply with the List A requirements are set out in Annex G.

42.03 A "locally trained player" is either a "club-trained player" or an "association trained player".

42.04 A "club-trained player" is a player who, between the age of 15 (or the start of the season during which he turns 15) and 21 (or the end of the season during which he turns 21), and irrespective of his nationality and age, has been registered with his current club for a period, continuous or not, of three entire seasons (i.e. a period starting with the first official match of the relevant national championship and ending with the last official match of that relevant national championship) or of 36 months.

42.05 An "association-trained player" is a player who, between the age of 15 (or the start of the season during which the player turns 15) and 21 (or the end of the season during which the player turns 21), and irrespective of his nationality and age, has been registered with a club or with other clubs affiliated to the same association as that of his current club for a period, continuous or not, of three entire seasons or of 36 months.

42.06 If a club has fewer than eight locally trained players in its squad, then the maximum number of players on List A is reduced accordingly.

Summery:

You need 4 club trained players who are on the A list. these are trained by the club between age of 15 and 21
You can have 4 more association trained players - or english players you bought from other english clubs.
You can then have 17 foreign players

This year LFC squad was

Mignolet, foreign
Bogdan, foreign
Clyne, Association player
Gomez, signed at 18, will I hope make club trained list but for now is association player
Toure,foreign
Lovren, foreign
Moreno, foreign
Sakho,foreign
Skrtel, foreign
Lucas, foreign
Henderson, Association player
Milner, Association player
Can, foreign
Allen, Association player
Coutinho, foreign
Lallana, Association player
Firmino, foreign
Origi, foreign
Ings, Association player
Sturridge, Association player
Benteke foreign

note we actually only had 13 foreign players and we did not have ONE SINGLE CLUB TRAINED PLAYER this is why the numbers were cut to 21.

We got 17 from anywhere (4 of which were english) and 4 association players

The B list had smith and ibe etc on it.

This is pretty serious stuff. We've nobody to call our own so that must say hey we've completely failed in our recruitment and traning policies.

Flanagan could be HG club trained player. he's the only one.

Saw somewhere we were linked with a move for Oxlade-Chamberlain in the summer. Strange one there, always thought he looked exciting when played and had real potential but doesn't seem to have progressed and has picked up a nasty habit of getting injured.

Would offer pace and trickery and can beat a man from midfield/wide though

I like him but he never gets to play in his best position at Arsenal. He gets compromised by players like Ozil and Ramsey who need freedom to thrive.

Depends how much but good player imo that would become brilliant if playing every week.

for the right price anyone is worth a punt, trouble is we will end up with a team full of ruddy sick notes.
we have enough already lol, stay clear of the risky ones if we can please.

the value in firmino is work rate and rock solid fitness. He's there every game even if he is inconsistent

ox is better than ibe. ibe has been a big dissappointment this season. He doesn't seem to get it realy.

Ox is ok and all that given our team is terrible but this is going nowhere.
