This doesnt scan right for me. The 15 year old girl would likely have many chances to see a footballer with a hairless chest, but only 1 to see his groin shaved - during the 'sex act'.

If anything this statement seems to help the defence? (the girl says Johnson was shaved downstairs, but all previous evidence seems to indicate otherwise)

Not really. If they had sex (act) in the car he doesn't really need to pull his trousers right off.

My guess is he'll be found not guilty on both charges, and will get sentenced to around 12mths in prison for the other offences.
 
Unless there has been parts of evidence not reported or that I've misread, cant see how he can be convicted of anything other than what he's already confessed to. Being a ****er in general isnt really enough to convict unfortunately.

The amount he has lied should be bought up though.
 
Yes he admitted to lying, no dispute in that. The girl also admitted to lying to the police earlier in the trial. Without trawling back through 100's of tweets I dont know what was said, but along the lines of protecting Johnson perhaps

She is the victim. She was groomed by a perv and her head messed with. Her lying to protect him isn't seen as a bad thing. It is a symptom of having your head messed with. Many victims of many different crimes lie like this. Johnson's lies were lies to try and get him off the charges.
 
Kids lie to get out of trouble or to get friends out of trouble....that's a fact. They don't have a full grasp of consequences. A 15-yr-old will sometimes appear to be mature and then be like a ten year old the next minute. Very easy to tie a kid up in knots of their own lies...can be almost cruel to do it. :) Big difference between that and an adult lying to the police.

Even a adult victim lying to the police isn't a bad thing. They could be lying for any number of things (abuse beimg carried on for years so they know no different,scared, ashamed, etc).

I was thinking mainly of Johnson (an adult in possession of their faculties), but you are right....I hadn't considered an adult victim of abuse who may no longer be capable of thinking straight because of loss of self worth.
 
Just as a re-cap. Both lawyers provided their final conclusions to the Judge & Jury today.

The sunderland echo is probably the best place to view the events in detail and there has been numerous links to that site on this thread.

The prosecution attacked the integrity of AJ. How he has found to be liar throughout. Not just to his girlfriend, but to the police and to the court. The prosecuting lawyer used a great line. We have uncovered "his cloak of rectitude". They basically have said that he has only confessed and told the truth when he has been left with no other option. He has admitted that he wanted to sleep with the girl and all his communications with the girl had been pushing towards that goal. They said it was "preposterous" to think AJ would have a sudden crisis of conscious when kissing the girl to not go through with his desires.

The defence acknowledged that AJ is not an honourable man and has made mistakes and has lost everything. The jury should not pity him as he only has his self to blame, but they should respect the factual evidence they have seen in the court and should not be swayed by sideshow evidence like his relationships with other women and why Sunderland allowed him to play until the trial. The lawyer said that it was unfair to call the girl a liar, but there were certain inaccuracies in her testimony which cannot be ignored in relation to timings and getting friends to lie for her. They went back to the pubic hair as a key piece of evidence and another inaccuracy in the girls account. The conclusion was there is no factual evidence to back the girls claims beyond reasonable doubt.

The judge will do his summary to the jury on Monday morning and they are expected to make their verdict in the afternoon. Obviously impossible to say how long that may take.
 
Reference AJ's many relationships, with other women, I have sympathy for his girlfriend.
Presuming that he has looked after his money, she will, at least, have a decent standard of living, until their daughter reaches 18 (?).

He will go bankrupt fairly shortly as his defence must have cost him a fortune, footballers aren't renowned for financial sense, and he has now lost all his income. Doubt there will be much for his daughter. :(

His recent purchase of a Porsche following the arrest suggests you're probably right. Although he probably felt it was the last chance of that lifestyle
