“The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which.”
There's lots of debate about how the FA Cup should be reorganised happening at the moment. One aspect I've thought completely wrong for the years it's now been happening is that the draw for the next round happens before the last match has even taken place. Fair enough if it got postponed for weather or something, but the draw happens before the scheduled time of the match. It puts those teams into the next round (sort of) without them having done anything!
When the FAC draw was done on a Monday lunchtime and only on the radio, it had a real aura about it, which was in line with the competition at the time. Now, the draw is seen as some sort of ceremony where everyone knows which numbered ball belongs to what club and the draw is done by some half-wit ex player who struggles to understand what he is supposed to do. I blame Man United, for devaluing a great competition by pissing off to wherever it was.
I always blame the League Cup for devaluing the FA Cup. It comes from a time when the people at the top of the Football League & Football Association were, and probably still are, more interested in their power plays than the good of the game as a whole. The FA then formed the Premier League to castrate The Football League and make a few pennies of course. These small minded actions from so called big wigs do not benefit the game by design only by accident if at all.
Somewhat unfair as it was the F.A who insisted Utd play in the World club Championship in Brazil to give it credibility and to aid their World Cup bid. Utd have never devalued the F.A.Cup. SAF always wanted to win it - and there would have been no doubles or indeed a Treble without it. Before that, back in the '70s and '80s when it was the only thing we could win, the F.A.Cup was very special to Utd fans and for many, it retains some of that aura and excitement as a result (as I'm sure it does for you spurs fans for the same reason).
Our game with Swansea on Sunday will be refereed by Mike Jones. Our game at West Ham on Wednesday of next week, will be refereed by Andre Marriner.
The Observer has an article that every Manure FA Cup match since 2005 has been shown on live TV. What a shock.
Anyone know of any good tattoo removal places in London? Looking to get a large piece removed/ faded enough to have a new one go over providing scarring isn't too bad. There seems to be loads of places about that do it but you hear that some have certain lasers that are better than others so was hoping for any recommendations.
I've been following Montasir for a few weeks now on YouTube, does some great videos, the one you've posted has got a lot of attention on social media, really is superb.
132o and on the BBC football page not a mention of Spurs V Swansea. Absolutely disgraceful and disrespectful to both teams
I'd say it was about standard for them, given they (like Sky) ran with Man Utd vs Liverpool in the Europa league over a team that actually has a chance of winning the Premier League facing one of the best club teams in in the world. Or, you know, not mentioning how most of the people who hosted Top of the Pops in the 70s were rapists or *****philes.
