There is some logic in that though.
The clue was Steps.
The Welsh for 'The Thing' is 'Y Peth'.
The letters in Steps and Peth are almost the same. So we have to ask ourselves 'Y' (why) Peth? The answer could be because it gives a clue that the Thing is Welsh if you just rearrange the letters (and change one of them......and add in an extra 'S').
