Just driven down Hessle Rd for the first time in a while - it's turned into the barbers quarter! Loads of foreign hairdressers offering what seem to be very cheap haircuts and shaves. Question is has anyone used them, are they any good and if so which is the best?

Where I live, Oxford, every empty shop that comes on the market seems to become a Turkish barbers. Tried one once, the bloke had arrived from Turkey the day before, spoke not a word of English and had to ask his mate to translate every time I spoke. Crap haircut.

Anlaby Road has three new ones in a couple of hundred yards between Walton St and Carlton. All open 7 days a week 9 till 6, and rock bottom prices.
Stan Leeman still holding out and offering 'something for the weekend'.

I use Mozart on Newland. They're Turkish types and very skilled. But the bit I like is they're not interested whether I'm going out tonight or if I'm
going on holiday or not.

There's no chit chat and I'm out of there in five minutes flat.

I bet Mozart is turning in his grave right now at the thought of his name being used for a Hairdressers, Barbers Adagio would be a better name

Caveman in Beverley is decent, it's £15 but you get a proper job and they sort your beard out a treat.

£15!? I could drive back from Leeds have my haircut and still have some change compared to what I pay here. Will give that place a try for sure next time I'm back in Hull.

I wonder if catholic priests getting a haircut ever get asked that.

I do a mean skinhead hair cut for free if anyones in filey.

The dogs electric trimmers are great

I offer the same service south of the river CF - there came a point about 12 years ago where I had to either cultivate the dodgy 'comb-over' or, say **** it and whip the lot (not a great lot really) off, nowadays I run my Wahl Balders straight over once a week to keep as smooth as the babies proverbial.

Bloody 'Ell - still there ! The same one just about opposite the old cinema ?

My hairdresser stands behind me, makes eye contact in the mirror, runs her hands through my hair and says: "Why do you want to get your hair cut? You have such beautiful hair".

The last time a barber cut my hair was back in 1971 at Manchester airport when I was away from Aus. on a business trip for a couple of months. My wife has cut my hair all our married life(48 years).
She won't let me reciprocate though!

Luckily I am wearing an all-covering gown...

Aye, those mirrors on the ceiling add a lot to the atmosphere don't they ?:emoticon-0100-smile:emoticon-0105-wink::emoticon-0105-wink:
