QPR broke Bolton hearts with an injury time goal for the second time this season on Saturday, with matt Phillips scoring in the third minute of added time to salvage a 1-1 draw for Rangers.
It was one of those days in the north of England. A squall whipping in off the Irish Sea blanketed the north west with rain delivered in sheets, at speed.

In the futuristic floodlights atop Bolton Wanderers’ sparsely populated corner of a remote retail park, you could see the water whistling around in sweeping circles, waiting for its moment to descend another 200 feet and batter the few poor souls who cared enough about this match to turn up to watch it straight in the face. Thirty five rows back from the front, at the very back of the away end, QPR fans huddled together for warmth against a concrete wall were still drenched for their £25 admission. A drier, higher, second tier sat vacant and unused immediately behind them by way of further torment.
Bolton’s pitch, more mud than grass, looked to have another couple of hours left in it. Had this been an evening game, referee Jeremy Simpson may have had a call to make. One patch of bare earth stretching from the goal to the corner flag in front of the away end glistened under standing water, and the whole thing played like a skating rink – players struggling to keep their balance, the ball picking up pace and skidding off in random directions every time it landed.

Spot on for me. Even the description of the weather had me feeling cold and wet again

The Bolton goal was very good indeed, even though the guy sitting next to me thought Smithies should've stopped it. An all too rare moment of brilliance in a very poor game

Interestingly even many Bolton fans didn't think that Henry deserved his punishment, and a number have said that Lennon was out of order concerning his post match comments on Henry deserving a red. For the big shove on Henry, Pratley didn't even get a booking, but I think that on balance the ref got that right - handbags and nothing more

I felt cold and dispirited just reading it. Is this really what we have to look forward to for several seasons to come? Somehow I have to convince myself to renew my season ticket before the end of March...

I really didn't realize that the weather conditions were that atrocious, which rather puts the game into perspective for a passive observer attempting to follow proceedings yesterday.

Too bad we didn't nab 21 yr old Zach Clough for £2 million, we could sure use a player with his credentials - perhaps if Bolton are relegated we could snap him up. Seems his goal was one of those wonder strikes (and he had a few others up his sleeve), so without that this match could have easily been a 0-0, so on the balance of things, 1-1 was likely a fair result.

El Khayati obviously must start on Tues and looks like we need Henry in there to stiffen the defence and perhaps Mackie should stay on the bench starting Polter or Chery.

Good to finally see the highlights:-

As Clive rightly stated, now is the time to start experimenting for next season unless he intends to completely overhaul the team in the summer. We really need to offload Hoilett and Phillips as soon as possible.
I would sincerely hope that these type of performances are not going to be the norm for the remainder of the season, but I'm not holding my breath.

Trouble is we're so short on goals that those two are at least in the mix when one does go in, unless we find another goal scorer, I'm worried for the first time ever by the prospect of Phillips leaving, Hoilett not so much but he does chip occasionally.

I don't rate our chances of winning any game in this league without Faurlin.

Polter and Washington seems to me by far our best potential two up front. Please give them a run together.

Like him or not, we play better and get more points when he plays. He makes the team tick and we look a considerably better side with him pulling the strings. Do you think it's coincidence we've played appallingly against Fulham and then scraped a draw at Bolton without him?

    What a mess .

I've kind of resigned myself to just watching the **** till the end of the season and taking joy in the dribbs and drabs of good committed football we are served .

Faurlin is the only player on our books that makes our midfield work, without him they look like a bunch of lost souls.
