Spot on mate. I have no idea either. But as Bolton have done OK of late, and teams where they are at this stage of the season are likely to be tougher opponents than mid table sides with little to play for a point away sounds OK. Especially too when they have some decent players
There won't be a serious challenge next season because we have recruited players who are only barely good enough for this league and certainlly not good enough for the Premier league.
Bolton had won the last two at home, and on a mini-run...They are fighting for their lives in more ways than one. There is a chance their club will be wound up on Monday too. They also had a minutes clapping for their chairman who died only a week ago from cancer. They really wanted to win. We know it is a nothing season, there is not the urgency in our mind-set...there can never be under these circumstances JFH is experimenting, a few players know they are not going to be here next season. There are circumstances Now before you jump on me, with all your quite fair comments and criticisms ... ....I too am really fed up with the season, and no I am not papering over the cracks, I know we are pretty damn mediocre, but we have no RIGHT to be winning games.... but getting rid of JFH is no solution at this point in time
Correct, but what one can say having seen our recent 'performances' is that you don't have to be mastermind to work out that we weren't that good.
My mate who was at the game said it was S@@t but don't take what he says, listen to what the manager says. "It was not pretty, not a classic." "We didn't create in the first half. Second we tried more, but it was difficult".
Very fair point. All I'm looking for this season, are signs of potential from the incomings and some managerial thought as to how they are utilised. By the end of the season, we should be seeing some talent coming through and an encouraging pattern of play. However, in the back of my mind, I feel we may end the season with a whimper, like last season with CR. Hope I'm wrong
I pop out for a bit and come back to find good old Matty has equalised in the 93rd minute!! Always rated him!!!!!!!! Can't wait for this season to end tbh.
We said the same about Charlie Austin Finglas when we bought him...and when we went up too ,...... we do not know if Conor, Nasser El-K, Luongo, Smithies, Hall and Robinson will be good enough, I suspect some might be others won't....but at least give them a chance. Who would have thought that Leicesters team of mediocre players (plus the addition of Mahrez)...would be top of the Prem now
We're rapidly turning into a forum the likes of which we used to despise, we all know or should do that we are in a period of rebuilding after 4 years of chucking many millions of £££'s at worthless mercenaries,we had one 4 year plan under Tango & Cash that got us to be where we wanted to be, then another 4 year plan to dump us back to where we startled, some are calling for the manager's head after 3 months for feck sake, that's not the Rangers fans I knew, that's was for the likes of the massive Leeds, we are all pissed off but lets get to May, re-group and go again
please log in to view this image Matt Phillips is QPR's top scorer so far this season following the departure of Charlie Austin Bolton moved off the bottom of the Championship despite Matt Phillips' last-minute equaliser for Queens Park Rangers denying them all three points. Trotters forward Zach Clough had the best chance of a tame first half as his ambitious overhead kick went just wide. Wanderers started the second period brightly and were rewarded when Clough curled home an unstoppable strike. However, deep in injury time Phillips' low strike squeezed past home keeper Ben Amos to steal a point for QPR. The result means Bolton move up to 23rd place as a result of Charlton's defeat at Fulham, whilst QPR move up to 12th position. It was an emotional afternoon at the Macron Stadium as Bolton, who were playing at home for the first time since the death of their chairman Phil Gartside, were visibly distraught with Phillips' last-minute leveller. The visitors' dreadful form under Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink will be of real concern for Rangers fans, having now won just two of the Dutchman's 13 league games in charge. http://www.bbc.com/sport/football/35566934
Of course we should....but they have something to play for we haven't and they were at home..... they played at a higher rate than we did....and still only scored through a great shot. I am not making excuses, I am as @@@@off as the rest of you, but this season is over for us.... we need to see consolidation and improvement for next season... And that will mean this sort of day....
Agree and if the reference was to me then it's a stupid one because i said we made them look good which we did. This was from the radio and text i received. I go and watch us most weeks (home and away even when we are s@@t) and know how we play. So agree it doesn't take a mastermind to work it. If we forget today's game as i was not there, let's talk about all the others that i have seen and we have been s@@T in those to. Sadly happy clappers don't like anything said about JFH.
What did they have to play for that we didn't? Don't take this the wrong way and commiserations to Mr Gartside's family, but we have shown ZERO guts, pride and passion this season. I go to work every day and give my best, our team don't. Despite the fact that that's their job!
Neil Lennon's post-match reaction:- Report: Bolton 1-1 QPR IN BRIEF Wanderers were cruelly denied victory at the death against Queens Park Rangers on Saturday afternoon. In a goalless first period, the best chance of the half fell to Zach Clough whose acrobatic overhead kick came within inches of finding the back of the net with Alex Smithies stranded. The frontman made no mistake with 22 minutes of the game left though, curling home into the top corner to break the deadlock in style. Rangers however broke Bolton hearts deep in stoppage time as Matt Phillips fired home under Amos to earn the visitors a share of the spoils against the run of play. TEAM NEWS Clough returned to the starting line-up for Wanderers having featured as a substitute against Brighton last weekend with Wellington Silva dropping to the bench. FIRST HALF At a rained soaked Macron Stadium, the game got underway and it was the home side who enjoyed the first real sight of goal when Liam Feeney’s free-kick into the area was hooked away with Emile Heskey and Clough lurking. Bolton’s pressure continued, although the visitors did find some possession and counter attacks, albeit ones mainly restricted to the flanks rather than in the danger zone. Any real threat in front of goal however had eluded both sides inside the opening quarter of an hour, with neither Ben Amos nor Alex Smithies being troubled. The tackles were flying in left, right and centre however, with Karl Henry the first recipient of a booking for a rash challenge on the skipper. Wanderers were the team looking the more likely though, with a goalmouth scramble from a low Feeney cross narrowly failing to be turned home by Heskey at close range. On 26 minutes, QPR enjoyed their first real chance of the half as Conor Washington latched onto a clever ball down the right flank, but the youngster’s effort was parried away by Amos. On the half hour mark, Feeney attempted to lob Smithies from an angle with the keeper slightly off his line, but the winger’s effort was just over. With the clock ticking down to half time, the game remained level with Clough’s acrobatic overhead kick from 12 yards going agonisingly wide of the mark with three minutes to go until the break. A boost for the home side after a first period spent mostly on a knife edge, it was to prove to be the last real action of the match as the half ended goalless. SECOND HALF With no changes for either side at the break, the second half began with the rain having subsided after a sodden first period. And it was Wanderers who almost drew first blood, with Heskey unable to turn the ball home from close range under pressure from his marker. The offside flag was next to thwart Bolton, with the assistant referee flagging Feeney as offside with him only left with the keeper to beat. In the 52nd minute, Gary Madine came into the mix in place of Heskey to bring fresh impetus to Wanderers who were ruling proceedings for the most part. It was all Bolton, with Rangers struggling to make any real inroads into the Whites’ territory, although the home side were cutting frustrated figures in front of goal when it came down to it. Moxey attempted to tee up any one of his advancing teammates in the box with 25 minutes remaining, slamming a dangerous ball across the face of goal, but no-one was able to meet his effort with the goal gaping. With 22 minutes remaining however, the deadlock was finally broken and done so in style as Clough curled the ball home into the top corner of the net from just outside the box with Smithies given no chance whatsoever. Completely deserved given their dominance in the clash, it was clear to see that Bolton weren’t ready to rest on their laurels although the goal did appear to bring Rangers out of their shells a little inside the closing stages. Henry, earlier booked, appeared to be set for an early bath with 13 minutes of the game to go as he clashed once again with Pratley, but the referee failed to brandish a second yellow with him being substituted soon after. Wanderers’ goalscorer was replaced himself with seven minutes remaining, with Neil Danns coming on in the academy graduate’s place. Victory was agonisingly close for the home side, but the visitors weren’t a beaten team just yet with Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s men getting forward in their numbers late on. With four minutes of time added on, it was all hands to the pump for Wanderers as they worked to keep their lead intact, with the Macron faithful responding in their backing. Fate was to be cruel to Bolton however, with Phillips firing home under Amos two minutes into stoppage time to deny the Whites a what would have been a deserved victory. I never said Charlie wasn't good enough for the PL. I have seen enough to know that some of the players you mention are not good enough. The squad as it stands is simply not good enough for the PL and that is clear based on our league position. Lets face reality instead of dreaming that we may become the next Leicester.
Beth we should really want to win as well. I don't buy into this experimenting either. Benny was sacked because the board wanted promotion, now the goal posts have moved. He has had long enough to get a good performance and 13/14 games later we are getting humiliated at home to Fulham and don't play well against a bottom team? How many more excuses are we going to come out with?
Shefford...they are fighting against relaegation...Lennon has got them to have a backs to the wall, last hurrah before the club dies mentality. This is a sport, and mental attitude is everything....and you cannot instill that when there is little to go for
