Myself and family are coming down from Yorkshire to see the home game against Millwall. My 5 year old is excited as it will be his first saints game. Just wanted some advice really on whether i can take him during the week (prior to the Millwall game) to see any of the teams training sessions, youth team etc, he just wants to see has much of Saints as possible. Any advice/suggestions would be much appreciated.
I think your allowed to watch the team train at Staplewood WhitbySaint I'm not 100% sure though. as i've never done it but know of people who have gone and watched a few sessions, wasa few years back tho.
Try and watch a reserve game at Staplewood, they're free and there's always a friendly atmosphere. That's what I would recommend.
I don't think they allow fans into training sessions anymore. Not even sure they allow fans to watch U18's games etc? They certainly stopped people taking pictures because of these stupid rules of not photographing under 16's without parents permission etc. You are best just sending an email to the club asking what you can go and see: [email protected] Regarding the Millwall game, we are mobbing up at Kingsland market before having a pop at Millwall as they got off at the station. Best your nipper comes tooled up.
Also there is not a lot of parking so they can't let too many people in. When the academy play it is rammed with cars and minibuses. They had to make a special parking area for Arsenal scouts.
Thanks for all the replies, we are down in Hampshire all week, so i will do my best to see what Staplewood has to offer, not too sure my better half is keen on the idea though
Walsall was my first game and I've been a fan for years. That's the trouble of living across a body of water I guess. It was great though because my first trip also had a pitch invasion, and instore clearance sale, and an All Star XI match against the hungover unslept first team the next day. Remember laughing at the shambles of Lambert marauding around. What made it better was that you could see St Mary's from our Premier Inn window, and the whole city just exuded the exciting promotion feeling. Take him to the Saint's store. Take him to the stadium perhaps the day before the match for a dander around and some photos too. There's a delicious pub up the road from kfc in a cellar that makes the worlds best steak and ale pies. Leave early on match day and head to the King Alfred, where an army of Saints assembles for a rowdy singsong and an incredible prematch atmosphere.
Thanks Dellboy, will see if we can get into the ground for a gander, defo doing Saints store as i have promised him (and myself) the new strip
Saints still do organised stadium tours. If you are lucky enough to get the great Herbie to show you around, it's a fantastic way to spend a couple of hours... http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/StadiumTours/0,,10280,00.html
Hi Fieldhorse, rather you tell her that than me. These northern lasses have quite a mean streak you know
