Mullins won the Mares race last year anyway with Glens Melody. Ricci will want to win races but he'll look at the JLT and think there's an opportunity to win that. I can tell a few of you have listened to the new Final Furlong Podcast yesterday because Sempre Medici is getting a few mentions at big prices on here yesterday and he was put up there yesterday as a certain runner with a chance at about 50's. Personally i don't like that horse but you can see the point. However, you look past Sempre Medici and you've got no other Ricci runner in the Champion Hurdle. Annie Power could go there. She could also go to the World Hurdle. I don't think she will win the Champion Hurdle and if she's backed i'll be laying her. I don't think she'll win the World Hurdle either because i can't see Thistlecrack losing that. We haven't seen him off the bridle at the top level yet so there's a question mark there but apart from that i'm well behind him. If she can't beat More of That with a great lead up i don't think she'll beat Thistlecrack with a bad prep. I don't know how highly they rate Vroom Vroom Mag but you could make the case they will send one of them to take a penalty kick in the Mares Hurdle and send the other to another race where it's up in the air whether they've got a winning chance.
After the first panic to get on Annie for the CH and Vroom Vroom for the Mares things have calmed down a bit with Annie now on the drift with Stan James to 3/1. Is it inconceivable that they may have a different agenda than the one we are assuming. It is logical that they will supplement a horse for the Champion but it is by no means certain that it would be Annie Power. They could take the view that without Faugheen in the race it would be worth supplementing one of the novices? Route Annie to the World?
Here’s a question for you. If you owned Mr Henderson’s Altior would you be tempted to give the Lambourn legend, the forum’s favourite trainer, our sports shining star, a call and say, ‘Shall we, Nicky, eh, shall we???’ Makes you think doesn’t it. Well it makes me think anyway. Could this be the term when every half decent 2 mile hurdler, rated 150 and above, gets supplemented for the Champion Hurdle???
Now then Stick calm down, old boy. No need for silliness on the forum. Mr Henderson already has 4 entered in the Champion Hurdle to test Altior against. Plus his brilliant brain can assess any situation in milliseconds and then make the correct judgement call. By the way have you seen who is riding Savello in Saturday’s ‘Ascot Chase’??? Most certainly looks like the intention is that she will ride him in 48 hours time and then again in the conditionals heat at the Festival.
Indeed Barney. Of course you were correct, as if there ever was a question. I still think she comes up short when comparing her to some of the best lads!
Apparently, and this is from Mark Chapman on Twitter so judge the source as you find it, but Min drifted today because of confusion over the Spurs footballer with the same name who was ruled out with an injury.
Yes, in a few weeks time, when I'm trying so hard to work out a Festival winner, over and over I must mumble "I must not forget the brilliant brain, I must forget the brilliant brain, I must not forget................." a hundred times. Coupled with a few nice G&T's, per my mum's recipe, something should turn up? please log in to view this image
