Obviously I hope you're right. I don't want us to sign another failure just so I can say "told you so". I just think it's a bit rash to expect so much with so little to go on.

Couldn't give a flying **** about the wages, tbh- I just want players who can bring us success. I leave the club's finances to those who's job it is to look after them.
All players are grossly overpaid anyway.

" Sign this contract so we can get more for you when we shift you on"
Isn't that the only point in contracts these days? They're ****-all use otherwise.

Why would anybody pay that much if he is as **** as you all say? Surely professional football managers would have noticed.

Klopp is confident Matip’s attributes are well-suited to the demands of the Barclays Premier League, and with room for further improvement for a player who has amassed 27 caps at international level.

He added: “He’s a real centre-half. He is physically strong, a really tall boy – taller than me! It doesn’t happen too often that I have to [looks upwards].

“He’s quick, he’s flexible in his movements and good in technical things. He has played in different systems, with four or three defenders. He scores goals, four or five per season minimum. He is good in the one-on-one and quick. It’s a package.

“He has to learn, that’s normal, but he has learned a lot in the last few years and made big steps in his development. For us, it was a chance. You can’t always make transfers only to solve a problem.

    ....

    Direct from lfc website.

Klopp rates him. Thinks he can improve him.

Klopp sees the English prem for what it is. You need big tall guys and his first 3 signings even if caulker barely qualifies have been big men.

Matip will be one of 4. Many on here are not sure I think who the other 3 will be... I'm not.

I don't happen to think he's **** <laugh> ..........but I think we can do better. Some people will look at stats to judge a player............I think I'm right in
saying that Migs had more clean sheets than any other keeper in the prem during 2015. <whistle>

His intelligence has made up for his lack of pace. Matip is actually fairly pacey though, so lets hope he has more brains than Moreno and we may have a solid defender.

Arrrrggghhhh. Stewart set for long spell on sidelines after injuring ankle in training during tackle.

This years injuries have been ludicrous.

Good point. We need some more physically imposing and stronger players in the side. Rather, we need them in the right areas and correct positions on the pitch. Also we want dynamic bigger players, not 'lumps', Klopp is saying that Matip is the former and I actually think Caulker can end up being a solid option for us with good coaching and more experience. One of the major failings of Rodgers/The Committee has been the concentration on signing small, slight players all the frickin time.

That is a good point. You need enough..

Dynamic is also a good word. Athletic i suppose.

You need a good bit of height at CM and CB, Thats just pure winning the ball when teams hoof it out or out press actually works and keepers are clearing it.

You need a tall striker when you are not the best side... and just to be a threat on crosses. you cannot make a clearance and have it come right back at you when you play in games where you have to dig in.

How many did we lose with sterling up top and him chasing hopeless punts? Sturridge gave us this a bit.. before that dalglish and rogers played suarez on his own and even he could not win it and hold it.

If i'd a choice between a patrick vieira type play and a fabregas with respect it would be vieira every time for the CM role irhgt in the engine room.

Can has the height but he seems to steadfastly refuse to pass the damned ball.

My ideal is a fast one touch game with the ball.. which requires technical ability... confidence... and drilling in where runs are made. We seem to want 5 touches at times.

My ideal without the ball is a fast press to recover then a layered defense... with guys who realise high and long are the mantra of clearing danger. If you take it down and dribble in your own box or barely clear your lines or let it bounce or dealy clearing you are asking fro trouble.

IF we have the height to dominate other sides then is matip can't pass more than 10 yards but can clear his lines i'm happy.

Look at lovern under rodgers.. floundering trying to keep ball alive, beat men, play it 40 yards.... just do what you are good at is not a bad mantra to have.

    I'm not that worries.

Someone kicked him so they want a slap but while i felt he did well i'm not that impressed that i think its a huge loss for us. Its a loss for him more so.

do we think he was going to play?

you should realsie he'd no chance at league cup and he is not in europa squad and is over 21.... he can only play in league....

Ok so we only have lucas, henderson ,can and milner and allen is injured but was he that much better than brannigan?

Intelligent midfield that can actually change their game depending on who is front of them.

Klopp apparently has said no more strikers..looking for proper wingers.

It was more that each time a player especially a young player started showing improvement they've gotten a long term injury.

    Sets back their development.

All bad luck but very frustrating.

Tell Mascherano that he's not physical enough to play.

But having a few Giants in the team will help.

The midfield has been neglected for years and it's a big reason for why we're so cr*p.

Our attack can be carried by the brilliance of individuals but if they're having a bad day, they've receive no support or service from the midfield.

In addition, a good defence can only do so much with little protection in front of them. However, A sh*t defence like ours has no chance!

he had his place but he usually just got sent off.

That was PROBABLY why he was not picked by west ham really...

You need one guy in there tall enough to compete in the air.

I would say our midfield is "average" in all aspects as it shows. they are not the most physical, most quick, most tehcnical... they are all dullard.s

Lol harsh but true. But Can is talented and I'm sure he'll get better.

I hold little hope for Milner and Lucas - both are average at what they do, too slow and on big wages. Allen and Hendo are tidy players but are nothing more than squad options. Allen is injury prone so I would just sell now.

    Very few options.
