Admit it Nev - you have never copped off with anyone from a club. ACS told me you bought your Mrs from a Russian website and its her you make sort out all the stats for the prediction league.
As someone else on here said I am sure that Johnson will have been instructed by his solicitors to say nothing to anyone but them about the case. Dont think Sunderland or its fans have acted any differently to the way any other club or set of fans would. Suspect that Sunderland suspended him first and were then advised that if he actually pleaded not guilty and was found innocent they could be sued by him. He deserved the right to be treated as innocent until proven guilty. He has now pleaded guilty to knowingly having sex with a child and grooming her. I assume his contract can now be terminated by Sunderland with due cause and no pay off and would be very surprised if they dont do that very soon.
Pretty much sums it up, I would imagine that the club will wait until the trail is concluded before acting and in this way not impact or detract anything from the correct legal proceedings.
I am hoping that this case and his admission to guilt will give all his other victims the bravery to step forward!
He has pleaded not guilty to sexual intercourse. He has pleaded guilty to grooming and sexual contact. Regardless, he should be sacked. I was speaking with a solicitor friend last night and he reckons Johnson will get a maximum of six months for those offences because the girl wasn't far off her 16th birthday. Should he be convicted of having sexual intercourse with the girl however, then he is looking at a couple of years behind bars. Again, the fact that she wasn't far off 16 will be a mitigating factor.
I remember Graham Rix was done for the same offence - well, he actually had sex with the girl in question. I'm sure he got a year in prison.
Rix got 12 months, served 6 for under age sex with a 15 year old and sexual assault, not sure but would think that sentences have probably been reviewed since as that was 1999, AJ was accused of 4 offences, 2 he has pled guilty to and the other 2 of penetrative sex are to be tried in court.
His trial doesn't begin until tomorrow, I think he's been given today off by the judge to spend time with his kids.
Yeah I couldn't remember the details. AJ has also been charged with sexual grooming which wasn't an offence back in 1999 so his is a lot more severe. He'll get sent down for the two that he's admitted. If he gets found guilty of the sexual intercourse with a child charge then he can kiss bye bye to any mitigation. Whatever the outcome, his football career is surely over.
The world we inhabit has changed massively just in the last 16 years, Rix was involved with the daughter of a family friend whereas now with all the social media this kind of link is more rare now and it's more likely to be a stranger as such, this is as you say where grooming has come into the equation now and with all the recent cases involving Asian gangs and teachers attitudes I think have harden even more so. Rix was able to return to his job as an assistant manager but was banned from working with any under 16's and placed on the offender register for 10 years and I think has struggled to work with the stigma attached, I would doubt that AJ will ever play again, you only have to consider the reaction of fans to Chad Evans when various clubs thought about employing him.
There will be far greater implications for Johnson. He'll be on the sex offenders register, will lose his footballing career [who is going to want to employ him?] and if his GF/ Fiancee/ Wife has any sense, she will tell him to do one. Not to mention the fact that he will probably require supervised visits when he sees his child. Despite what people think, the law is a lot tougher on these types of crimes than it once was. He's obviously admitted to the 'lesser' charges in the hope of mitigation. If found guilty of the others though then they will throw the book at him for all 4.
