Absolutely ridiculous odds on the superbowl tonight (Monday morning). Panthers 5-11 and broncos 19-11 but the most valuable player which 99% of the time goes to winning quarterback is 4-6 newton and 7-2 Manning so these are good two bets to go for. Got them both in big doubles with 2.20 Fakenham HOLLIES PEARL 13-8 and 3.50 Fakenham IT'S OSCAR 6-4.

    2.00 Musselburgh Blue Rambler

All eyes will be on the Gordon Elliot runner Jetstream Jack but at 7/2 I think Blue Rambler might be worth a dabble in receipt of 7lbs. John Ferguson's Monsun gelding, who holds entries for the Supreme and Neptune at the festival, had a gentle introduction on soft ground at Carlisle behind 2 decent sorts, travelling well until he found things happening a bit quickly from 2 out and he was an 8-lengths 3rd in the end. The winner, Champagne At Tara, is rated 129 and was beaten 7 lengths in a class 2 handicap at Cheltenham next time out, whilst the second, Tippmanboy, had the race at his mercy next time out at Huntingdon when falling at the last. That experience, plus the better ground today, should see Blue Rambler go close today against an exposed-looking Elliot hotpot.

The last race at Wolverhampton today looks an interesting one on pace, and one that can help set up a race for Fuel Injection to run well at a big price. He is a horse who tends to start slowly, and when races are run at a steady pace, he doesn't seem to be able to get competitive. This is what happened last time when finishing well beaten in a Southwell handicap. Today however, we look set to have a lot of early pace on and he should be able to pick his way through the field. He has a decent draw and a decent jockey so double figure odds look pretty fair to me.

Had a nice little surprise this morning when I logged into my paddy power account and had just over a grand in there. I've had no bets so balance should have been zero. Got on live chat with them and obviously it's a mistake, got a 'thank you for your honesty' £50 free bet. I've stuck it all on Theatrical Style 5/4 in the first race at Musselburgh. Won't make me rich put will give me some money to play with IF it wins.

This is the 3rd occasion I've been 'given' money by Paddy's, first time I told them I got a thank you, 2nd time I got a thank you and £20 free bet and then todays. I think if it happens again they should just let me keep it!

Don't get me wrong id be happy to keep the money but there's no way they don't check these sort of things so I'd rather give it back now than spend it and owe them a grand later down the line!

    I'm the same as Stick.

Take the grand. Stick it away for Cheltenham.

Are we all looking forward to Super (or as the say in Royal Berkshire ‘sooooooooooooooooopa’) Saturday on Saturday (well it would hardly be Friday, now would it?!?).

Personally, I think it Appalling with a capital ‘A’ that ‘The Game Spirit’ will now be known as the ‘Betfair Exchange Steeple Chase’. Re that race I’m waiting to see if a former Cheltenham Festival fencing scorer is being declared. Believe it or not if he is it will be his 'prep' run for a hurdle race at next month’s Festival. As a Chav might say, ‘Cor blimey, what’s occurring!’

The race has been reopened due to failing to attract enough entries so runners won’t be announced until tomorrow (ditto Newbury’s Denman Chase). Regular readers you will have to remain on tenterhooks overnight!

Nope, Oddy and said beast ain’t even barned with the forum’s favourite trainer. You have got the initial right though!

Cor Simonsig and the ‘Champion Hurdle’! How many successive seasons was that debated on here! A story of what might have been.
