Where has anyone seen any concrete evidence suggesting that we're still interested? If anything, evidence points to the fact that that HMS Saido has well and truly sailed...
The poker analogy is apt. Levy/Pochettino have just said, "I’m good," when asked how many cards they wanted. They’ll look very smart if we win something. If not, not.
That's true. However, I doubt we're going to go for another season flogging Harry into the ground. Our youngsters in that position are very young. We'e assessed the lad as being 'the right fit'. He can play in the PL. If WBA will sell, I'd put money on us being the buyer.
Me too as it was made clear by Poch in August that the club would only enter the market for the right player who would fit the system and criteria. If Berahino fit it in August then why would we not still be interested in the summer.
Only because he has thrown his toys since then and I have not heard Pochettino express his love since. except for his present squad.
We may be the best at addition by subtraction these days, and kept it going by moving on Townsend and Fazio.
Am I missing something? IF peace is willing to do business?? Unless Saido signs a new contract I didnt think Peace had any say other than whether to accept a non-tribubal fee
It seems very likely to me that Pochettino would drastically change his view on Berahino based on how he responded to the disappointment of missing the transfer to us. Many of you are also massively under-estimating how easy it is to break a high performing team by adding in one inadequate performer. We should only add players who we are sure will improve the team. It is quite possible that these number zero.
Distinctly possible re the attitude. Mr Peace is known to have a character that would have made Mother Theresa swear. He might be granted a second chance on that and his youth. He might not. I'm less inclined to believe there are no players that would improve our team, no matter how good I, you, M. Pochettino or anyone else thinks we are.
There are probably well over 50 players who would be better than a current squad member individually. There are probably less than ten of these who we could sign at a reasonable price. Many of those could easily make the team worse even if they theoretically make it better. The team is currently much more than the sum of the individuals and it is risky to meddle with that
I am not aware there was any discussion whatsoever between us and WBA regarding Berahino during the window.
