I'm not sure there will be a mass clear out.. Think Klopp knows he's got a few players he can work with as well as a few coming through the youth system.. If he keeps Sturridge fit (BIG IF!), Coutinho and Firmino then all he needs is to add one quality signing to make that a rather potent front four, be that signing be another striker or an attacking midfielder.. Get in a decent holding midfielder to play along side the likes of Can and Hendo... A quality CB + LB and, A decent goalie... Surely that's not too much to ask for
I don't think you can afford a mass clear out. As some of the fees you've paid were extortionate, and you'll struggle to return a huge amount of cash if you start binning off the likes of Benteke, Lovren, Lallana, Markovic et al. Bringing in 8 or 9 players in one go doesn't work anyway, it's too much upheaval. I reckon Klopp will look to offload a handful and look to bring in about 3 quality players.
depends on who you talk to and klopp's not talking about it. I think the hacks want it. do we? i dunno I think he needs 3 guys he can really rely on first.
I agree.. 3 maybe 4 players at most that fit his approach.. Like I said, get that bloody sick note fit for 70% of a season, we've got one of the best strikers in the league.. Get him playing with Coutinho and Firmino, that's pretty potent.. One player I'd love to get to play in that front 4, but won't happen is your lad, Barkley, give him a role without much defensive responsibility and he's a monster.. However, with no CL likely at Goodison and City getting Pep, if Pep fancies him, can see him ending up at City next season, who wouldn't want to work under him? Stones and Lakaku will def. want CL footie now, they're both good enough to play in that comp! The fact that we have Klopp means (hopefully) that some of our players that fancied CL footie, will most likely stay and see what he has to offer for a full season..
Hope our transfer policy finally changes and we bring in 2/3 quality players to really improve first team rather than another 6/7 for same price.
Improve first team and squad will gradually take cadre of itself. Swaus us shoukd be using youth players to make up numbers anyway, like smith, Brannagan, Ojo etc
imho the huge turnover in players in recent years has been part of the problem getting the team to play as a team which is at least as important as the standard of the players unless you unearth a genuine world class talent. It also leaves you with a hangover of very expensive players , presumably on big wages, wasting away either at Anfield or on loan
I agree with IBWT.. get in 3 guys that klopp can say week in and week out he can depend on them to set the tone and deliver performances and the rest will follow we don't have that. we have guys who look at each other. you need 3 leaders but also guys who can deliver the performance too. I agree with solid air that getting them to play as a team is the basis of everything as well. those 3 guys need to be the guys klopp has to keep the lines together, keep the intensity up and press in in the channels klopp wants them to. I don't think a lot of our guys know what to do despite being told cos they are that kind of players. I don't think for instance sahko will ever get the fact that a CBs first job is to keep the line and shape and not go running off on his own. I think klopp has great time for sahko as he's a guy who will put it all in and has a connection to the crowd too. but.... he's not going to change is he? Klopp needs a top CB, he needs a really good CM and he needs either that no 10 he ca rely on (teixteria if thats he wont) or the striker. I think klopp's team next year will involve mingolet, sahko, flanagan, can, henderson and firmino... he only needs 5 more he can rely on then.... you can see the huge ones i've left out as much as the ones i've put in... if he gets 3 guys in like he did at dortmund (bought gundogan, hummels, lewandowski as part of that recruitment team) then we can improve a lot. Teixteria was no 1 in that.. i woudl love to know who that was going to work up front,
Maybe with the new tv money in the summer, some of the mid table teams won't mind spending big on some of our average players. I mean if you can get Newcastle to spend North of £12 million on the likes of Shelvey and Townsend then we should be able to recoup most of our money back. But saying that, the better players to replace them will cost more, but if we could like people say get the 3 or 4 in, we could probably shift 6 on 3 in for an average of £40 million and 6 out for an average of £15million should be well within our budget. I would keep all the youngsters, as they cost nothing in wages compared to some of the more seasoned pro's Ones to go should include Milner,Lala,Allen,Lovren,Skrtel,Enrique,Lucas, and even Hendo and Sturridge ( and I am sure that can be added to) as they are not the standard required if we are to meet our expectations, need to do this over the next couple of windows Before someone says it, no I don't think we will get £15 mill for Enrique, but him off the wage bill would be a bonus.
Isn't Enrique out of contract in the summer anyway? I think he'll keep Hendo, and Sturridge if he stays fit (huge if though).
I think Caulker is better back up than Lovren (cheaper wages and is more likely to develop), can't see Lovren ever getting better. Was OK at Cardiff, but looked poor alongside the Geriatric Ferdinand at QPR. We are desperate for a leader at CB,(which Lovren was supposed to be), a quality DM and a striker who will play more than Sturridge. With those and what we have already, we could be a lot, lot better
Hope so Amazing thing is apparently his wage demands caused the proposed loan deal to Newcastle to fall through. Surely we are not going to offer him anything in the summer, so you would have thought, he would have jumped at the chance of getting a little playing time to put himself on the market for the summer, but saying that, maybe he has a better chance of a bigger offer if no one sees him play
Given that we put him in isolated Training with Borinio and Balotelli and he's been effectively frozen out barring a couple of perfromances in central defence (!) against fourth division opponents, I think it's unlikely that we'll offer him anything in the summer.
