Indeed. As much as I love Shane, this season Vardy beats him hands down (and that despite Long having had a decent season for us). He's Long with many more goals. Lethal.

Jay well may well have held that title a few seasons back. Funny you should mention Vardy, though: Paul Doyle (Guardian's chief sports writer) was talking on Football Weekly about the rumours of Loic Remy + cash going to Leicester in exchange for Vardy, and said that it wouldn't work, for as everyone knows there's only one like-for-like replacement for Jamie Vardy, and that is the only other player who does what he does, Shane Long The discussion then went on to acknowledge that Shane is not close to as accomplished a finisher but still... high praise, I thought.

Tough game here, but also a bit of a freebie after the last 3 wins :)

We did a great job of keeping Ozil out of the game at St Marys but they have Sanchez back now as well so to keep them both quiet for 90mins will be a huge ask! Coquelin back is massive for them too. I'm just hoping we see Merts at CB tbh <whistle>

Sameish team for me, want to carry on with Mane & Long up top n think we'll need the pace there as we're not gonna have a lot of the ball.

MY predicition: 1-1 - Giroud for them and a VVD goal from set piece to keep the run going <diva>

I think the time to assess Vardy will be at the end of next season. Many players can manage the one-season wonder thing. I think he's having the season of his life in a team that plays to his strengths. I personally doubt that he will repeat it and actually, I consider Long to be a more all-round player (albeit a frustrating one at times who should score more goals).

Danny Wallace scores the only goal of the game, as Southampton beat Arsenal 1-0, at Highbury, in a Division One encounter in November 1987.

Come on Saints. Same score again please. :)

Good to see Arsenal defended the same way, then, as they do now.

Going to miss the game as I have managed to book myself on a late night flight to Doha for a meeting the following morning and then remembered we were playing <doh>

Think we can get a point from this game.

Charlie has scored in his 2 PL games against Arsenal. [HASHTAG]#startforcharlie[/HASHTAG]

Who has been knocking Ron about?

I was thinking that, like someone held his face against a hob. hopefully not a want away player.

Shame Davis is out. Think we need a more defensively aware player than Tadic as the more advanced midfielder. Expect JWP to get the nod as set pieces will be another way of getting at them.
