Either our game or the Watford V TWS game will be switched from the Saturday. Can't see Plod wanting us and TWS fans travelling down the M1 together

It's a free hit playing them and the further we go in the competition, the more likely it is to face the likes of Arsenal, City and Chelsea. Just want to see City go down there and have a go at Arsenal instead of just sitting back for the 90 minutes.

I'd half fancy us with out record at the KC & our current form but away is a big ask. On the other side of the coin, our only positive results have come at the Emirites the famous win and a 2-2 draw.

Another one bites the dust! Why don't you try to contact BunkersHill and compare notes? It would be interesting to see whether it's been the same posters who've pissed you both off.

    I'll add to this.

We are likely to be televised.

I'd predict (don't take this as gospel) that the BBC may have Chelsea/Man City (1st pick) and Arsenal/Hull City (4th). BT may take Shrewsbury/Man Utd (2nd), Blackburn/Liverpool/West Ham (3rd) and Tottenham/Crystal Palace (5th).

The BBC tend to show the first and final game of the weekend for the FA cup meaning one of their games will be a Friday night.

We can't play on Sunday because Arsenal play Barcelona on the Tuesday following that so we will likely be playing on the Friday night (7:45 KO) or the Saturday (5:15). Couple this with the fact that the BBC will want to show Chelsea/Man City in the Sunday 4:00 prime slot for a big audience.

I think we may be the Friday night game (unless BT pick us over the higher ratings draws of Man Utd and Liverpool - in which case, everything I said doesn't apply and we will kick off on the Saturday at 5:30). In terms of travelling support, it's half term at least for the younger fans.

Let's hope I don't look an idiot when the TV games are announced and have this all completely wrong.

Edit - Man Utd, Spurs and Liverpool all in Europa League Thursday the 18th so their matches can't be on the Friday or Saturday. That complicates things. I'll have a think and post again...

Just got to draw a line under previous results and treat the game as a one off. Think we have a chance on the basis that Arsenal play barca not long after. Bruce should be up for it, so will be a bit of a battle.

Agree totally with the above. Some of our best FA Cup performances in the past have been when we finished top of the league eg. 1948/49, 1965/66. You take the opportunity to advance in competitions when your team is strong. Burnley took a strong side to London and gave them a good game. We should do the same.

It'll be a couple of second teams playing each other again like last season. Except this time one of our strikers will be ineligible.

We may well play a second team but Arsenal will not!

5th round of the Cup & second string teams are being discussed by a division two side - ridiculous

City have an important match the Tuesday after this Cup tie too. Squad rotation is a must.

Arsenal will, they play Barcelona in the Champions' League a few days later.

Nothing ridiculous about it whatsoever. We've been playing a weakened side throughout the cup so far, and we have important league games just days before (Brighton) and just after (Ipswich).

I think Arsenal will play a strong squad as they will want to win the cup three times on the trot and I think they will realise that we are good enough to beat a second string side if we play a full strength squad. It will therefore depend on if Bruce really wants to give it a go.

At the minute we have a winning mentality, and if this continues up to the FA cup match I think this needs to be taken into consideration. We all know the players psychology effects form and vice versa. If the team are playing well they will stand a good chance of beating Arsenal, but make wholesale changes and losing badly could impact on league form even without any injuries. A win or even a close loss will also show if we are capable of going back up and holding our own.

So while there is a risk of injuries, with Akpom and Hayden probably ruled out, I would play the best 11 and give them a game.
