I think if it goes through it will need to be at least £25 mill. We need to give them a reason to question their resolve not to sell to a relegation rival. I also suspect they may be waiting to see if Spurs move late, so we need to make it as difficult as possible for Spurs to do that. At least we're not in our usual desperate position of having brought nobody in if the stories about Doomboy are true. For once we're holding a few cards of our own in this poker game, even if it's not as strong a hand as we'd ideally like.
Don't think 21 million will do it. It's not quite enough to make it impossible for WBA to turn it down. As an opening gambit, it's good, but not good enough. Reckon if they are truly serious, 25 million is going to be nearer the mark. As said, if the Doumbia deal can be confirmed soon, we are seen as less vulnerable, and could realistically do the take it or leave it speech. For once we are not grovelling around in the clarts, but l still think we need to turn the screw a bit tighter on Peace.
Of course you can't get 'em all right, but by God - Riviere, Gouff, Thauvin, Cabella, Haidara, Yanga-Mbiwa, Marveaux and Obertan. Le Carr has a lot to answer for.
The other LB we were said to be after has signed for Levante... Hopefully that Gibbs rumour turns out to be more accurate than expected.
He's certainly not perfect - Mbiwa, Cabella and Thauvin are what makes it look so bad. I'd argue that Cabella could have been a good signing if he had been used in the number 10 role. Riviere was certainly not high on the Carr list - more a cheap fallback when Lacazette was the real pick. Gouffran and Haidara were cheap punts when we were desperate (Gouffran was decent for a while too). Marv was a gamble re his fitness and attitude which backfired splendidly. Obertan I thought was more of a Pardew pick. On the other hand he has also seen us sign quality, often for great prices - Cabaye, Ba, Sissoko, Perez, Mbemba, Wijnaldum, Remy etc. My confidence in Carr has taken a knock but I still think he can be an asset for us going forwards.
It speaks volumes regarding the ability of his signings that you think our 71 year old scout could be an asset for us going forward. Probably more mobile than Riviere.
Seems like nearly all our targets for this window are signing or about to sign for other clubs.Headlines tomorrow night, " We tried but the line kept disappearing "
The best bit of deadline day is when people take dildo's and blow up cocks down to the grounds to show off love on sky. Oh, and Natalie Sawyers tits.
