These Murray-Djokovic matches are always so disappointing. Djokovic isn't significantly better than Murray but he just seems to know that he can maintain his level of play longer than Murray. He just has to keep playing well and Murray will crack.
Ho hum. The best player in the world beats the second best player in the world once again. There doesn't seem to be any way Murray can get near Djokovic these days, even playing the best tennis of his life.
It's not that Murray can't do it. He just needs to get back to the mindset and winning formula he discovered when Lendl was his coach.
I think he showed in the Davis Cup he still has that, not to mention in the battle against Raonic in the semi. He does need to find another level against Novak though.
I don't know. Winning the Davis Cup was fantastic but he didn't beat anyone you wouldn't expect him to. The best player he beat was... Tsonga maybe? Against Federer and particularly Djokovic there seems to be a mental block with Murray.
Agreed. My point is it's fine margins - it's not that Djokovic blows him away and Murray can't compete. He just holds his level longer. Murray was able to do the same thing to Djokovic when he worked with Lendl and there's no reason he can't get back to that place.
