... is available on a free transfer, apparently. He is, however on 164k a week. Would he be worth paying £17,056,000 for? That'd be the cost of a 2 year deal.
That's my thought to be honest, under £9million a season for a player of that calibre. No resale value whatsoever of course, but if he got us into Europe (plausible), he'd pay for himself! He'll gan to Spurs like.
Forlan is a class player remember Keano trying to bring him to us onloan a couple of years back he might be getting on and even though he failed at Man United he is one of the best strikers in the World and would be a quality adition to any team
Not for mercenaries: Forlan is still a brilliant player, though I'm not sure he'd come to the Premiership tbh even though only the EPL and Spain would attract those wages.
My first thought was that Arry will will be sniffing all over that. Fergie did say recently that he regrets letting forlan go when he did. 164k a week? a bit rich for us as the gaffer might say. Arsenal could do a lot worse though if all the figures there mentioned are correct.
would he not be better off on £64 a week and benefits, or have this coilition put a stop to that. please log in to view this image
Could well be that he doesn't expect to receive 164k going forward of course, due to his age. If it was say 100k a week, then that is £10.4million over 2 years, and having watched him last night in the Copa America final, anyone who says he has lost it, is plainly wrong!
BTW that story is fake, he has not fallen out with the club- only the previous manager so he will cost around £10 million not free. Also his wages are not that high.
The story is that he's fallen out with people way above coaching level at the club, i'll credit you with knowing more than me on Atletico as it's your club, but i'm Spain based and this story was ran yesterday. Nobody would realistically pay £10million for him due to his age. What do you think is likely to happen with Aguero? There's a lad i drink with here is a MASSIVE Atletico fan (indeed, he has there badge on the gates to his house!), he reckons he'll stay another season. I like Juanfran, was surprised he stayed at Osasuna so long, he'll be a good buy, and i think Godin is one of the best CB's in La Liga, you should be in for a good season. Juve have released Tiago as well, i'd assume he'll return to Atletico?
To be fair mate, he didn't go straight to Atletico on monster wages, he had a couple of incredible seasons at Villareal first, and Atletico had massive competition to get him.
personally i would like to sign him and as i dont pay the wages of the players i dont really care what we pay them i understan it is unrealistic for us to pay them but id have no problem if the club felt they were capable of paying these silly wages.
His form is dipping. He scored 32 goals in 33 apps for Atletico in the 08-09 season which is just completely astonishing, but next season it was 18 in 33, then the season after that it was 8 in 32. I'd say he could be a 15 goals a season striker in the EPL (although his record for Man Utd says otherwise). Pretty damn good, but not worth the wages over 2/3 seasons.
I think to be fair last season he had a run in with the coach and few of those games were starts, he certainly wasn't getting consistent playing time every week. There's no way on gods earth will we sign him anyway, it's just a nice thought!
