Anybody seen it? My sister got me the box set for Crimbo. Set in Birmingham just after WW1. Watched the first three episodes tonight with my daughter. What a cracking series it's turning out to be. Thoroughly enjoying it - would recommend it to anyone who likes old style gangster stuff.
Nee botha Bri. The reason they called them Peaky Blinders is because thet sewed razor blades into the peaks of their caps.
I'm not a fan, and I hate the way Yanks distort the facts of WW2 for the big screen. But It's rated so highly I've toyed with giving it a go.
You wanna watch it mate, go for it. I'm not gonna fall out with you over something so trivial. I've worked with the ham shanks & just find them very undisciplined.
It's a bit over written for me at times but it's damn good all the same. The best of British TV, a good export which reflects ****ing well on us.
Of course not bill. I don't want to watch it if it's going to piss me off like. That's a why I need a review from someone British before I give it a shot. Plenty on the list in the meantime.
Must be one of the best t.v. Series ever, whatever you think about the Yanks. These are real events involving real people - some of them were still alive when the series was made and are interviewed at the start of each episode - these interviews are very moving and in no way overdramatised.
Billy, I to have watched the first few of Peaky Blinders and starting to grow on me. However you must watch 'Band of Brothers' it's a modern masterpiece, it's not distorted in any way and has the real soldiers from the 101st Airborne talk about what happened in the episode. Also if you like subtitled films watch 'Generation War' about five German teenagers in WWII that too is a great watch. I do wish that they would make something similar about 'The Tommy'.
Band of Brothers is outstanding lads, I've watched the box set 3 times. It has an unbelievable cast as well. Watch it!
No mate, I mean obviously I wasn't there so not sure about how accurate it is but you don't get the sense that American ego is involved. The first Ep Currahee is a little American-like and not a lot happens apart from some beef that sets the scene, but it gets so much better. Try it mate, Tom Hardy from Peaky Blinders is in it as well
I might ask for it for my birthday. That way if I think it's ****e, I've wasted nowt. I generally dislike yank made stuff about WW2. I mean, the ****s only came on as a 87th minute sub.
Do you know, that dvd sat on my shelf for about a year untouched. One night I came in off a 2-10 shift & was bored as **** so I put it on. Quite enjoyed it tbh. I'd give it 7/10. It was a bit overhyped though.
