It seems as though we have secured the services, on loan, of Pato. Once a very exciting prospect at Milan but has struggled with injury and the pressure of a huge price tag (for Brazilian teams anyway) since his return to Brazil. Is he the solution we are looking for as a partner for Costa, or does he have the air of another Falcao? I for one am quite excited based on what I saw many years ago at AC. What are your thoughts? Good signing or another disaster?
Not going to say it's a good signing but i do think it's some more good business from us. We haven't committed to anything so if he struggles then we can just offload him at the end of the season. If he does well then we bring him in permanently for what looks a very reasonable price! I think he'll just be used as an option from the bench unless Costa is to miss out with injury (which will happen at some point) and i suppose he's seen as a direct replacement for Remy who is expected to leave.
He's another Balotelli. Not the bat **** crazy aspect but the talented kid who never lived up to his potential. With Costa, Remy, Falcao and Bamford, I question this signing, especially when scoring goals isnt our problem, its keeping them out. So a weird, and somewhat pointless signing for me....but what the heck.
It just worries me that we seem to be in this "Costa plays if he's fit" rut. He should feel challenged like everybody else. Keeps them sharp.
If Costa is fit he should play, Pato although little risk with him, imo opinion wont get enough game time, build up enough match fitness to make any sort of impact. He will just take Remy's place on the bench
Exactly, Plus if you look at Pato's injury history, its worse than Falcao's and Costa's combined. Don't see this signing having a big impact. We need a midfielder primarily, and an understudy for Ivan (with a view to replacing him in the not too distant future). But for some reason we keep buying Strikers and attacking winger after attacking winger.....
Yep, I agree with this. Can't help feeling that we could be missing something with Bamford. He's definitely worth a shot.
who actually wanted him?.... surely not Gus??....... Remy and Falcao must be goin. Think i'd have rather had Austin what a bargain he was.
He looked a fabulous player a few years back but his career has stalled. Looks like a cheap way of replacing Falcao to me. Falcao is stuck with us for the next 4 months but probably wont be available for selection for most of that time so we bring in a player on loan to cover his place in the squad. If he turns out to be good (probably won't get the game time to even prove that) then great, we sign him on the cheap in the summer. Bamford is obviously not trusted and will do better with a few months on loan at say QPR than sitting at home and playing youth fixtures with us. Remy doesn't look happy either, and probably rightly so. The strikers situation needs a whole rethink in the summer. The American defender looks a better long term signing if that indeed happens.
Lukaku Romelu Lukaku slipped through our fingers, mini Drog we used to call him, but put this striker issue aside i would give my left gonad for a midfield player with half the ability of Mr Frank lampard, jesus we miss him, just goes to show the real value of a player, and to back it up Gerrard how good or not have Pool been since his departure. In real terms those two were priceless.
Talkin of priceless how much this lot worth at their peek in todays money. cech cole carvalho terry ferreira makelele lampard essien robben drogba duff Scary money or what.
Yes indeed. What worries me most though is that there doesn't seem to be a real structure to our transfer policy ATM. It's patch up or loan out. Nothing seems to come of it.
Be different if they had a manager that'd take control of things.......Still Mark Hughes for me, but who the **** knows.
