Since I am bored this morning I thought I'd start a thread on the most important goals scored by Norwich last season.

Obviously, there are a few late winners, particularly the Derby one and of course the winner at portsmouth that took us up, BUT IMO Simeon Jacksons first (of three) at home to Scunthorpe has to take it.

It was a masterstroke by PL bringing him on in a game where goals were there to be had. Jackson at the time was short on confidence and lacking total support from some sections of the crowd. A hat-trick followed and he never looked back. Firing the goals that sealed promotion.

What do you guys (and gals?) think? What was our most important strike of the season and why?

I said at the time that playing Jackson against Scunny was a brilliant move on his part. Where better for an under-confident striker to get a chance of a goal or two than at home to what was perhaps the worst of the bottom teams. Not enough to qualify for the most important perhaps but was key to getting his confidence back for sure.

What was our most important strike of the season and why?
For me it was, and will remain against Derby. That goal, I believe, gave the belief to everyone connected with the club that we could actually go up in an automatic place <ok>

I agree that the goal against derby was crucial, but would it have been scored without the Scunny goal?

Ah well, we would perhaps need an entire Saturday night with lots of beer to discuss that one <laugh>

It is something we will never know for certain. Although his confidence was not high I think he turned the corner against Bristol City. He was superb that night and there were signs he was going to do something soon (IMO)

There were just so many incredibly important moments last season and most of them went in our favour. Lansbury scoring against Bristol city also has to be up there for building team belief. It had an instant impact as surman then scored another almost instantly.

That's the problem! Near impossible to get a majority agreement perhaps because there were so many.
I was nearly in tears when the season finished, not because we got promoted but because I didn't want it to end. I was loving every Saturday night here so much.

Not sure I am looking for agreement, there will be many different opinions on this and I thought it might be fun to explore them.

Shame we can only have 10 options on a poll.
Could have listed dozens of them to vote on <laugh>

may i nominate another goal we scored against scunthorpe - that of grant holt's 90th minute diving header away to scunny, way back in august. why was it so important? well, it meant we secured our first win of the season having suffered a disappointing first day home defeat. it was an away win, the first of many, and it gave holty confidence that he could score goals at championship level. i'd also argue that ruddy's penalty save against swansea was massive but i suppose nobody can really argue with jackson's goal against derby - i shall never ever forget that moment - pure ecstasy...

That penalty save was not a goal as such but was just as important, especially given that we then went up the other end and won it. It doesn't seem long ago that we were a side who all too fequently snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.... ...oh, hang on, it wasn't long ago was it. 2 years?

I completely agree about Jackson vs Scunthorpe - he may well have left at the end of the season had he not played that game. That game led on some extremely important goals for us in the run in.

All nine goals against 1p5wich were important to us as fans, especially the fifth goal from Pacheco.

The goals against Barnsley away from Crofts I somehow feel were important to us as well.
