Matt Phillips could leave QPR this month, admits manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink with West Brom keen on £10m winger

    • Highly-rated QPR winger Matt Phillips is a target for West Brom
    • The Baggies saw a £7m bid for Phillips rejected last summer
    • Hoops boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has not ruled out selling Phillips
    • QPR have set a £10m asking price for the Scotland international
    • West Brom's bid will likely depend on the sale of Saido Berahino

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has not ruled out selling Matt Phillips should his price be met before transfer deadline day – but insists he wants to keep the winger and make him a better player.

Phillips has been the subject of Premier League interest since Queens Park Rangers were relegated last season with West Bromwich Albion head coach Tony Pulis an admirer.

QPR rejected a £7million bid from West Brom last summer, believed to be holding out for £10m, but Phillips now has only has 18 months left on his deal.
Pulis is only able to spend what he brings in, so any move for Phillips is likely to be dependent on Saido Berahino being sold.

'That is a question for (director of football) Les Ferdinand but as far as I know they (WBA) have not been in for Matt,' said Hasselbaink. 'But Matt is a very young exciting player who is catching the eye of a lot of clubs.

'Do I want to lose Matt? No. He is a pleasure to work with. I do believe I can make him better. I do believe there is a lot of mileage in him and he's one of those players who fits in with the plans of QPR.

'But business is business and everybody has his price.' Hasselbaink has brought in Conor Washington for £3.5m after selling Charlie Austin for £4m, but is easing the 23-year-old into Championship football.

'You have to give him time but also you have to be good to him,' said Hasselbaink.

'He has to have every chance of succeeding and also the boys have to understand how he plays and how he can be served in the right way.

'We are looking (to do more business). It's not easy to get the right individual, but we are looking.' -ends

I hope we keep Phillips and give him a new contract, but close to £10 Cash will be very tempting I should think!

A lot of strange things happen on Sky Transfer Deadline Day........there are what 10 clubs or so involved in a struggle to stay in the top flight and they will start to panic........wouldn't surprise me if a ridiculous bid was made......

China is a weird market. Anyone who is anyone seems to get a six figure contract per week. Asamoah Gyan is something like the sixth highest paid player in the world now over there.

Let's call him Phillipsinho and see if we can get £12m

Speaking of Sandro ........ just saw him playing guitar and singing, showing off his karate!
    Apparently so.
Amazing for a guy who's either injured, overseas and injured ....... injured, overseas and no passport or just couldn't give a fcuk and injured.
I tell you, he's one sick dude!
Surely we can get 5 million for this puppy ...... would you believe 2 million?
How about 10 bucks and a packet of crisps?

I think situation may have "occurred" where Sandro may have failed to respect Jimmy's balls, and is now consequently left to play with his own.

He's about as injured as Traore, Yun & St Austin (before he left) and Rob Green are.

It's only 40k a week, and we have yet another reason to rebuild again.

    Call me an old cynic.
