Bloody hell! That was dire! Not sure we'll come out of Anfield South unscathed! <doh>

Still, a loser's medal is a loser's medal! <ok> <laugh>

Flanno was good last night, performance wise yes but more importantly I noticed that he was dragging the back four up with him and screaming at them to get higher. The kid could be a big asset to us as we don't have enough vocal players.

Me praising him doesn't hold much weight since I've been banging on about him for the best part of three years now but the lad is a great in the making. Much like Carra, he knows he's not the greatest player to have ever lived but he also knows what he can do and uses those skills to maximum effect. The heart, desire and passion coupled with the love for the club is what made Carragher so great for us, it will be the same wit Flanno.

A new contract will be issued shortly, especially with how Klopp's been talking about him. If we let him go we deserve everything we get imo

Didn't you win 4 trophies under Houllier? So the FA Cup is not beyond your team. The hardest will be the Europa League with some undoubted quality there with 4 very good Spanish teams, some from Germany, Napoli, and Tottenham.

We won five in something like eight months but that included the Charity Shield and European Super Cup. We won the League, FA and UEFA Cup in one season with him.

Quite simply we need players like Flanno in the team, he may not start every game but you can guarentee that the starting fullbacks will have to perform every game to stop him getting their place as he'll work hard to get in the team. Desire and attitude is an important part of the game and all the fancy technical skills in the world are useless with out those aspects.

He was one of the few positives to come from the performance last night, he did tire dramatically last night and was very lucky not to be sent off, thought klopp should have expected it and took him off before hand,

He apparently told Klopp he would have been fine to carry on when Klopp took him off <laugh>

Good ratings @danilo. Think Sakho was an 8 and our MOTM.

Would give Flanno a 7 because he partially at fault for the goal - didn't get mentioned but Arnautovic was his man and he loses him. I know he was offside but still should have been closer or pass his man onto Kolo.

I agree with you on Moreno but I think you were still a bit generous. He's still a raw defender who has suffered under Rodgers. He's been a lot better this season, especially under Klopp. Now, he's below par defensively and he needs to improve but he is young and Klopp will hopefully develop him further. But he is our best LB and by some distance. Smith is very good at getting forward but he's appalling defensively, and Flanno may be semi-decent defensively but then we lose the attacking threat down the left. Either we persist with Moreno and develop him, or we bring someone in (Ricardo Rodriguez please!).

Moreno gets all the blame for the goal but I watched it again and as I said earlier, Flanno loses his man. Moreno is quite high but that's because Stoke bypassed our midfield and they would have been clean through on our defence had he not been there. Moreno was proactive in reading that danger but the execution was poor which then left him out of position. As with Lovren, I respect defenders who are proactive and read the danger but you have to be winning those balls.

Moreno was way out of position for their goal last night, and worse than that when he got beaten in the challenge he didn't race back, he was virtually jogging.

He's defensively mince, and has been since the day he arrived in this country. Rodgers dropped him because of it.

1984 Milk Cup final 0-0 and a dire game at Wembley - the first ever merseyside derby final
i thought you was on about the fa cup finals lol. now those ****ers wasn't boring, wrong result for you, but great games.

i dont actually remember the milk cup final, cup final was a cup final back then so no idea, too young to blame it on the drugs lol.

<doh>

Jimmy doesn't like Flanno.

Jimmy does like Moreno.

Moreno was at fault for the goal but Jimmy will blame Flanno anyway.

All whilst ignoring Klopp screaming at Moreno for being ****e

This.

Enrique wasn't much different when it came to positioning but at least he worked hard to make up for his mistakes!

My two pence...
They were the better side, not much better like some Stoke players and their manager claim..
We were ****e, too many people had an off day..
Game seemed to pass Hendo by, Can was wasteful.. Ibe looked knackered as soon as he came on.
Can't fault Milner's work rate, Lalalalalana wasn't at the races.. thought Firmino did the best he could given the players around him
I'll also stick up for Benteke, thought he played well when he came on..
Joe Pirlo, the mans a living legend, took a great yellow later in the game when their player tried to hit us on the break, kept the ball well, moved it forward and obviously had the minerals when it came to taking the final pen..
Moreno, I like the chap, but he's a liability, needs a time out to sort his head and and be shown that he's not a certain starter!... Smith def. needs to play against West Ham
Great to see Flanno back, he looked very rusty on the ball but did well in his defensive duties...
Defence was shakey at the start but they got better throughout the game and Mings had a decent game, can't really be faulted for their goal and the second save in the shoot-out was superb.

Their goal was a good 2 feet offside, not even close, Ironic that the one time the defence does a decent job in playing them offside we get punished.
We didn't have many shots on target (not usual for us) but other than their goal, they didn't have a shot on target until extra time..

Anyway.. I don't think (hope) we'll be able to play that bad again, we're in the final :D and, touch wood, come the final, we'll have the likes of Sturridge, Lovern, Origi and Coutinho back...

Play that bad in the final and Everton or Man City will batter us.

I said it as soon as I'd seen him a few times - he isn't a defender. He's not got the awareness of a defender to sense danger and react to 2nd balls etc.

His strength is going forwards, as he's quick and direct. At LB he's a massive weak link in your side and teams have sussed it. Norwich targeted him on Saturday and Stoke did the same last night.

He shows a lot of determination and passion too, just not for getting into position. If he's in a battle with another player he won't give up.

As for Norwich targeting him, that was something Jimmy said. I asked him a simple question of "why?" and he's not answered me yet.
