Not bothered by the players going... But Huddlestone? I hope not. Off to bed to catch up on some sleep.
That's what I thought Strolls. Meanwhile in other news ... 'Sandro Plays Guitar' http://www.getwestlondon.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/watch-qpr-midfield-star-sandro-10789520
A friend of mine who sat with me on Saturday and who lives in S Wales, was telling me about the Swans had offered £7m for Hoilett and QPR were considering it. I hadn't seen or heard anything until then, so some possible truth in this one.
Maybe that includes all this wages over the length of the contract? He's out of contract in the summer you would have to be soon on your way to the funny farm to offer that.
£7m for Junior and £4m for Charlie! Have I woken up in some sort of inverse and contrary universe to my own?!
I'd let him leave for free. On 45k a week so that's £1.1m saved between now and expiry. He's our Adebayor. Looked great when left Blackburn. But then secures 4 year deal. Loses all motivation and 3 and a half years later and with contract soon expiring he suddenly ups interest and effort levels. It's no co-incidence he's improved now. He's everything that's wrong with modern footballer. No interest in game or the club that pays him so well. Instead he's only concerned with his next contract and will likely lose interest again when that's secured Use that million towards a replacement
If Hoilett goes, it will be something of an irony, seeing as he's presently playing the best football he's ever played for us (which isn't hard, I admit). If we get a good price fine, if not, keep in the hope his improvement continues. Clearly a confidence player
Agree. I re-read what PD said. That would be truly cynical on Junior's part. It wouldn't entirely fit in with Junior's international ambitions for Canada. In fact, it was when playing for Canada that he seemed to get his mojo back.
Like others on here, I'd rather keep Hoilett. He gets a lot of stick but I've generally thought he has offered something, despite his variable quality first touch and sporadic crosses into the box. Most notably, in possession, he often seems to scare the wits out of opposition defences. Being a positive sort of person, I don't think his recent improvement is solely down to his contractual position. Nevertheless, it depends on the money i.e. the level of his wages and what we are offered as a transfer fee. He's certainly not been worth £45k a week, if that is an accurate figure. I really can't believe the £7 million transfer fee mentioned for someone on a short-term contract but, under more normal circumstances, he probably has looked like a £5 million footballer at times during this inflationary season. So, bearing in mind his short contract, if we were offered in excess of £3 million and it did take £45k a week off our books, I'd be tempted by that. If we are going to keep him, surely the maximum affordable and justifiable wage would be £20-30k per week?
