Maybe, but it was hardly an unstoppable effort. Migniolet will be cursing himself for letting that one by him. Do you really trust wes to score from the spot? or like me do you have palpatations and half expect him to miss? I can't believe we don't have someone better to take them. 4/6 after Saturday is hardly a stella return!

Bah!

I wish someone else would take them, as we get one so rarely. I thought their keeper got a hand to it!!!
When Hooper took one last season, he just belted in the bottom corner.

I totally disagree re goalkeepers. I think Ruddy is still a top keeper although admittedly his form hadn't been great this season. Rudd has proved himself to be a decent keeper too and I think the money needed to find a better goalkeeper would be better spent on outfield players for some time. I personally think that Rudd was poor this weekend, none of the goals were his fault but I dont think he made it hard enough for the opposition. I think Ruddy would have stopped 1-2 of those goals but I know many will disagree with me on that.

Does anyone think we would be better off buying a better left back? That would allow us to move Brady forward again......

I think Ruddy might well have stopped one or two of the Liverpool goals, but nt sure I'd change again.

Just a simple point but.. We need players who are better than we already have. After the weekend results how many of these players will look at the league table and the relegation clause in the contract and think - perhaps not.

We've conceded 11 goals in our last three games with Rudd in goal, and three in the last game Ruddy played for us. In his short time in the first team Rudd has given away a silly penalty against Spurs that changed the game in their favour, he should definitely have been sent off in the first half against Bournemouth for his wild, reckless challenge on Afobe, he didn't even look like saving any of the five goals he conceded on Saturday and looks like confidence is swiftly ebbing away from him. And Ruddy had been pretty dreadful all season until he was dropped and had clearly become a liability.

If none of that concerns you at all then I wouldn't mind a pint of what you're currently drinking <ok>

Gotta agree with you on this to a large extent, I would really love for Declan to rise to the challenge having got his oportunity especially as a local lad, but we need a keeper that is gonna do the basics well and just occasionally pull of a game changingly great save. Can Declan do that? Ruddy hasent even managed the basics for much of the season!
During Saturdays game for example the milner one on one situation, Rudd had a chance to pressure him but failed to even look close to saving it. |I think someone like Butland you would fancy to have stopped one or more of them perhaps. Even Ruddy might have done too, but I would not advocate him coming back in as his form was certainly full of actual mistakes. I don't think you could call any of the goals against Liverpool outright mistakes from Rudd, you just fancy that a Fraser Forster, Butland would have made life considerably more difficult for the scousers.

Bah!

I can't see the issue with Ruddy getting another chance. Sitting on the bench watching Rudd for several weeks may just be what he needed. He has been PL quality in the past and there's no reason he shouldn't be again. There's little point giving him a kick up the arse and then not giving him a chance to respond.

Most good sides are built around a decent, solid and fairly permanent 'spine'.
AN has dabbled with personnel so much this season that we've had little chance to establish this.
Mbokani and Naismith look to have the attributes up top, but GK wise and rock of a defender are still not proven and in situ even this late (six months in!) in the season <yikes>

Tettey and Bassong are clearly part of that 'spine' but other than that I'm not sure who the other vertebrae might be (excuse my lack of medical knowledge). I think Naismith will probably be established in the Wes Hoolahan role for the rest of the season but other than that there has been a lot of chopping and changing. Even Brady hasn't been able to hold down a position despite his run of games as he's gone from left back to left wing and now back again. The goalkeeper has changed and now there is talk of Ruddy being reinstated...

Hopefully AN knows our best team by now because I sure don't!

I don't recall saying it doesn't concern me but my point was I don't think we would have money to seriously upgrade out GK. If someone wants to point out a goalkeeper that would come in, hit the ground running and be a mainstay for a few years then let me know.........

As for people hoping AN knows his best team I would argue that he seems to sometimes give too much focus on the other team constantly tinkering our own to nullify the opposition. Maybe we need to stick out best 11 out and focus on giving the opposition problems rather than constantly changing to match up against each opponent. I know its not that simple mind!

Who is this left-back you want to sign who is better than Olsson or Brady then?
I'm all ears....

I was quite impressed with Rudd when I was back over Xmas. Admittedly I only saw us play live a couple of times but I saw some exceptional saves (some of which at the time I wondered if Ruddy would have got to). What I did notice though is that he's not a noisy dominant type marshalling his defenders. He seemed quite submissive in that sense with seniors like Bassong ahead of him. That's an area that AN needs to work on with him if he's to grow into an established PL keeper.

I'm hoping that Ruddy has taken this bump in the road in a positive way and is up for the challenge of getting back in. In the two of them, I think we have some genuine quality for our level.

I don't have one.....just a suggestion that if Brady had been our best player whilst playing at LM and it would look like AN doesn't rate Olsson there in the Prem. Persosnally I'd play Olsson at LB and arguably our best player in his most effective position.......

Good player but a bit injury prone I thought. Would be a good fit and would allow Brady to be pushed up into LM. He likes to go forward too so would fit in well with our system of "non defending" full backs lol.

Can't find anything else on this anyway. Doubt its gona happen. Be nice though. Id love to see us get him, another CB and a striker... cant see us getting all of those though :( ...if any!!

Echoing what others say - he seems to have been v popular at Everton and played really well. But the nasty leg break was obviously a blow and he has struggled to find game time, but by all accounts is an incredibly hard worker on the pitch
