Yep, a while back I posted on here about how Ashley could and should offer an olive branch, say "business is business, I made mistakes, for the good of the club I need your honesty and integrity here to put us and keep us on the right path" then give him a place at the top of this otherwise pointless and vacuous football board.
If we're not going after Remy then get Jordan Rhodes in. His goals record over the last few seasons is excellent.
We just need to get someone who knows where the goal is. Even if we sign the Northern League's top scorer (whoever that is) and hope he does an Alan Shoulder it will give us the opportunity to try something different and let the current forwards know we have alternatives (Riviere isn't an alternative). If we get really lucky he might even do a Jamie Vardy as opposed to an Alan Shoulder!
Have to disagree with you on this one, No Chance. Rivierre IS an alternative unfortunately though, in the same way "alternative" comedians were to "proper" comedians.
Remy looks over-weight and isn't exactly prolific when he gets his chance at Chelski. He's where he wants to be - in London and earning a shiite-load of cash for warming the bench. No-go for me.
Apparently we are going in for Lacazette AGAIN. What part of does not want to join no matter how much money you throw at it does Charnley and Carr not understand?
Look, I doubt that we are exactly very good at selling the club to players with old penfold in leading the charm offensive but I do think we need to have a bit of a reality check on our current situation. It is probably very very hard to get a striker in that we are going to consider good enough to do the job of keeping us up. Even the sides at the other end of the table struggle. Its very unlikely Remy is going to entertain the idea of coming back. Not a great look is it!? Naismith would have probably been one of the best realisticly available targets we could have got but he is going to score the goals to keep Nowrich up now probably. Afobe would have been good but we missed out there also. It's going to be tough to get anything done.
Agree we seem unwilling to buy players who are suited to our current standing and situ. We have grand designs and a aloof. Naismith would have been d cracking signing. Try for long as Austin has prob stolen his game time. Look down over and take a risk. We missed the boat on guaranteed goals.
Long would be a good option, but at 29 yo doesn't fit the bill. Shame, cos he'll move somewhere in the next week.
All hail 'The Structure' and the wonders that it has done for our club. Ashley has successfully reinvented the footballing wheel. When we go down you have to assume that Penfold and Carr will be on their way out finally............. so, every cloud!
I think our only options now are Remy or look in the lower divisions. Think Remy would be happy enough if we up his salary a bit for a loan till May. He doesnt look particularly fit but wouldnt take long to get back to match fitness. Cant see any team challenging in Championship selling their strikers with the riches of PL on the horizon.
Long and Naismith are cracking players but they are not 'headline' enough meaning that they don't even figure in the thinking of our 'football board'
I think Shane Long would be a cracking buy, but alas Perhaps if he changed his name to Simone DeLongue, Carr would be all over it.
This is a great idea. If we translate all the players we want into French names maybe Carr will agree we need them. So it's Andre LesVillesFin for starters. Any more you can think of?
