As Much as one may like the original say..2 movies... or so they were not shall we say brilliantly acted or anything.

This one actually suits stallone and the ham....

I usually call the Rocky finds 'chick flicks' tbh because they always have a long slow sloppy section. Still, they're classics

You are right.

My missus loves rocky. Loves them.

I showed her all options from cinema listingo last night and she picked creed.

Wants to see..... sigh.... the relationships and if rocky dies in next one :emoticon-0102-bigsm

I thought the camera work and the boxing were well done here. The acting.... decent.... the love story.... not too boring.... the rocky character suits being old and washed up better than being a young wise guy.

I thought the first 2 Rocky films were very good. Gritty and realistic. I think the acting added to that grittyness.

And Burgess Meredith is a legend!

The director is the guy who did Chronicle and Fruitvale Station, seems a talented guy. The story of how Creed came about is quite good as he approached Stallone with the idea but he hadn't made a single film at that point and Stallone turned him down, 2 films later he came back and it went ahead.

Will Smith and Spike Lee are to snub this years Oscars after there are no black nominations for a 2nd year in a row.

Is this a lack of talent? Or a lack of strong roles for black actors? Or are they right in that there is an element of the Oscar commity tat are intentionally snubbing black actors. Straight Outta Compton has a mainly black cast and none of them are recognised for their roles. It's a good film but none of them stood out as a great performance for me in a film that I really enjoyed.

Idris Elba also not noticed for Beasts of No Nation, this was a good performance and the lack of nomination surprised me.

Thoughts?

Sounds like bollox to me. Massive chip on shoulder imo.

Having said that, some of the omissions on those shortlists are disappointing.

Best films... The Gift, Sicario?? The Big Short? Birdman?

Best actors... Benicio Del Toro? Tom Hardy? Michael Keaton?

Also, imo Steve Jobs is overrated all round as a film and the performances.

And Mad Max:Fury Road needs to be in there for something.

There wasn't much in terms of quality tbf last year.
