It's true though. My life is one endless and futile search for something to fire my enthusiasm. The present Mrs Uber thinks I need treatment.

You're probably right. I've not had a drop for three years now.

think this is an astute signing for you fellas. He is certainly a class above anything in league 2 and still very young at 22. Not quite the finished article, but a great shot stopper and very agile for a big keeper. He will be sadly missed, but the rumoured 400k is a lifeline to clubs like ours

What's his distribution like? We have tired of Rob Green taking twenty minutes to kick it into touch.

His distribution is fine. Can use both feet well. His goal kicks can occasionally drift left. If he has a weakness it is possibly over high balls in the box (you get a lot in league 2!) he probably should come more often for crosses rather than stay on his line. His shot stopping is top class and he is really good in a one on one situation. I'm sure the coaches you guys have will take him on a level again.
We always new he was destined for bigger things, it was just a matter of time really. The gems stand out in league 2!
It was nice to see him at our game this afternoon saying his farewells to supporters. He will be missed

    Thanks for the comments Slasher.

Always reassuring when supporters give glowing reports, when QPR sign one of their players.

Its just it doesn't happen very often (to us). Maybe, just maybe, our scouting and recruiting process is finally improving ???

Well Jimmy Floyd has seen plenty of him last year when he managed Burton, so he knows what he is getting. Just remember he is not yet the finished article. He isn't really prone to stupid errors, but as I mentioned he has areas he can improve on and at 22 he is still young for a keeper. I look forward to watching him progress with you guys

I wasn't looking too closely on the telly Stainsey, but he did nothing to make me groan inwardly, and an excellent string of sharp saves towards the end. Not sure about the accuracy of his kicking, but at least he gets it over half way.

Not sure if you picked it up on TV....there was a backpass to Smithes half way through second half...there was an on rushing forward...Smithies run out to meet it,
The intake of breathe from the loft was tangible, as we realised that with our normal goalie it was suicidal...but Smithies made a clean kick and the ball was hoofed easily into their half to safety

I was struck by a moment in the first half when Smithies came past the penalty spot to catch a high cross and then made a quick clearance kick which found Hoillett deep in the other half. As I said to my son, "there's two things you wouldn't have seen from Green".

Looks like we may have another Julio Cesar on our books for 6 months.

You would think a deal might be there if we subsidized his wages for another club, that would allow him to play, or sit on their bench.

Championship club Queens Park Rangers are not expecting to be able to offload goalkeeper Rob Green during the current transfer window according to Get West London.

The 36 year old England international is understood to be one of the top earners at the West London club however the keeper has been told that he is surplus to requirements at Loftus Road.

Green is rumoured to be earning around £40,000 a week at the West London club and the player is just five appearances away from triggering a clause in his contract which would force the club to extend his deal. Premier League club Crystal Palace are understood to have enquired about Green’s availability and there was talk of a potential swap deal with former R’s keeper Alex McCarthy returning to Loftus Road however that potential deal is no longer expected to materialise and Green is set to be frozen out of First Team duties for the remainder of his contract.

Queens Park Rangers recently sealed the signing of Wycombe Wanderers goalkeeper Matt Ingram and their new signing will provide long term competition for current number one Alex Smithies. The Hoops also have youngster Joe Lumley on the books at Loftus Road meaning that veteran keeper Green is only likely to play again for the club in extreme circumstances.
Green’s uncertain future with the West London club could affect the player’s chances of a call up to the England squad for the European Championships scheduled to be held in France this summer.

    Say goodbye: Rob Green

Only Crystal Palace can get QPR out of paying £40,000-a-week in wages for Rob Green - with the Rs keeper set to put his feet up from now until the end of the season.

The Rs shot-stopper has been told he will be used only in emergency, and even then can play in just four more games.

That's because a fifth would trigger a new contract for 30 appearances. And because the 36-year-old is one of the club's last high earners, Rs have called time on his future at Loftus Road.

Crystal Palace dipped their toes in the water about taking Green off Rangers hands, but sources close to the man himself suggest he will have plenty of down time between now and May.

"At this time of year, who is going to need a keeper?" added the source. "It's not promising."
There was hope of a swap deal that saw Green off to Selhurst Park and
Alex McCarthy return on loan to west London.

McCarthy was sold to Palace last summer after Green kept him out of the Rs line-up most of last season. But the former Reading player is reluctant to return to a club where he got just three outings in one miserable season.

Rangers ended all conjecture over the swap when they signed
Matt Ingrams from Wycombe last week to compete with Alex Smithies and Joe Lumley.

Would be nice if somebody came in for our aging England international keeper.

Paul Robinson has made 421 league appearances

Paul Robinson: Burnley sign former England goalkeeper

Burnley have signed former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson on a short-term deal until the end of the season.
The 36-year-old has been without a club since leaving Championship rivals Blackburn at the end of last term.

Robinson, who won 41 international caps, began his career at Leeds before spells at Tottenham and Rovers and has been training at Nottingham Forest.
"I've been fit and training, so it's nice to join a fantastic club," Robinson told the club website.
"The manager goes about his business here very well and having spent some time with him I can't speak highly enough, so I'm looking forward to working with him.

"I have played a lot of Premier League and Championship games and hopefully that experience can help people in and around the club."
Robinson, who has not played competitively since 17 September 2014, is likely to provide cover for first-choice Tom Heaton, with regular back-up Matt Gilks injured.

The Clarets are third in the Championship, four points outside the automatic promotion places.
