Actually in a way...... Just thinking about the era of Sir John Smith. There was always the rich owner right. There was always the if only we'd cash etc but in general in those days the gates paid for all and success bred success. Today it's the TV money not the gate. The guy going to the game is not the guy paying the wages but.... the sugar daddies are actually not as influential. Oh there's city but there was Blackburn in the 1990s and before that I'm sure others here and there. Now though everyone has shed loads of cash through TV. England has more for 17th placed club than most in Europe can dream of. Now more than ever a wise hand on the tiller that puts good people in place and leads them is so valuable. Look at the plight of villa. Randy I'm a villi an through and through has made them an utter shambles through just plain not being there and caring. What lfc need is not Tom Warner wandering across the pond but a genuine leader to guide and shape the club. Someone to pick good people and back them to do the right things. .. not have committees picking lists.
Do I worry about Klopp? Yes, I worry he might drink tea that is too hot and it burn his mouth. More so, I worry he wears rosy glasses and may think some of our players are better than they really are. However, his faith in the current roster may be a strength as well as a weakness. It's too early to judge him too harshly. He hasn't had a summer. He didn't have any day in the players already signed in the 1st team. We've definitely improved even if our point tally doesn't accurately reflect this. I'm worried about the number of injuries but we had a lot before he joined so can't blame him completely. Overall I'm happy but it's a cautious optimism. I see more good than bad. If nothing else he stopped the rot and decline. He needs more time before we judge anything beyond that.
I'm not really interested in the background issues of the club. Klopp and the team is where my interest starts, at this point I like the guy and feel that once he's got his own players in and has a full pre-season to prepare then we'll do really well. I'm also hoping he'll lead us to a trophy this season.
Klopp is a rock star. Where did rafa end up in his first year... didn't look like being anywhere half way though. Same for houllier. We are slight favorites to reach a league cup final already.... just enjoy the bit of fun along the way.
I agree; that said... It's OK having the money and bailing us out - we're grateful of course and will always be in their debt - but at the end of the day we need their kind benevolence spending on the right players, and frankly, I'm sorry to say that on the whole, they haven't achieved that. We can't keep ignoring it. I would rather they sold us on to someone who recognises what it is we do need - like the ayrabs.
You think Klopp wouldve took over if players were forced on him? Our normal situation at the club (Klopps words) has either been restructured or BR's trying to save face...... As for sugar daddies? No ta Youre on the wind up arent you ASL BTW?
I think it would be fair to give a guy some time. I won't even start judging him before the start of the next season (after he brings some new players to the squad). He is still working with what he got, and even in the first game against Tottenham it was obvious that the players are not in a good physical shape. Hence the number of newly injured players. So, i wouldn't be hard on him, even when he brings Caulker as a Forward in late minutes of the game.
