Keep the pound coin tooIf the victim managed to swim and climb out of a slippery canal one handed with a trolley then he would get a round of applause.

Bollocks. Lots of crimes go unreported. People attacked at a canalside would possibly be involved in something they didn't want to be made public (crime, homosexual liaisons), so any survivors wouldn't necessarily want to tell the tale.
Fair point, they may not have wanted to report it at the time. But with all the rumours of a potential serial killer on the loose, don't you think there contiounse would have got the better of them by now.
28 is a big number to have killed by just pushing them in, so there are bound to be loads of survivors out there, so surely atleast 1 of them would have come forward.
You also don't have to be up to no good to be down by the canals, it's a shortcut home for alot of people. There isn't a significant number of homosexuals among the 28 to suggest that they are being specifically targeted. There are a lot more straight guys.
Most likely that beneath the trolleys and prams there's a very large closet hidden down there Dan...Just because they're reported as being straight doesn't mean that some were not induigling in homosexual activity by the canal. There;'s a few married guys on here who like to visit Coocaddens for example...
Not necessarily. If they're married with kids, they might prefer to keep quiet.Fair point, they may not have wanted to report it at the time. But with all the rumours of a potential serial killer on the loose, don't you think there contiounse would have got the better of them by now.

Quite the expert eh ?Not necessarily. If they're married with kids, they might prefer to keep quiet.
They may not have been just pushed in. The one killed in 2004 had injuries consistent with an assault, and I'm sure he's not the only one.
There's plenty of closet gays out there, and they are more likely to use the seclusion of a tow path to indulge in a little bum fun.
Just for research purposes, honest.Quite the expert eh ?

I think 5 would pushes would be enough .Most of them where very young, so doubt they'd be married with kids.
I'm not saying either that none of the deaths are suspicious, I think probably a couple of them where suspicious and something untoward happened to the victims. However I just see them as individual cases, that arent the actions of the same offender.
This 'serial killer' would have to be a criminal mastermind to have executed 28 perfect murders without so much of a trace of evidence. And the type of person that would carry out these sort of crimes wouldn't usually be of high intelligence.
What do you reckon, do you honestly think the same person has been responsible for most of the deaths?
I think 5 would pushes would be enough .
Perhaps the council should make it harder for clumsy people to not fall in.
There are plenty of canals in other big cities that don't have the volume of accidental drownings .
A fence maybe ?
They've been young, but old enough to have wives/girlfriends/children.Most of them where very young, so doubt they'd be married with kids.

It would make a good book Jip.They've been young, but old enough to have wives/girlfriends/children.
Psychopaths are often of above-average intelligence.
I honestly don't know. But there's definitely something "not right" about the whole affair.

Just saying .![]()
And if it does get written every one on here will be checking to see they don't share their name with any of the victims. They've been young, but old enough to have wives/girlfriends/children.

Agree that looking at the number of deaths would lead you to believe that there's something not quite right about the whole thing.
However I think the high number of deaths is more a case of safety around the canals not being up to standard, rather than something more sinister.
There just isn't enough evidence, in fact there isn't any evidence that there's a serial killer on the loose.
People have this tendency to jump to the worst case scenario, and I think that is what is happening here![]()
Did you even read the article?
I watched the programme Tobes, and I don't see any concrete evidence pointing to a serial killer. Just a lot of assumptions being made.
An expert criminologist has joined grieving families in believing a serial killer who drowns his victims might be behind the deaths of dozens of people found in Manchester's rivers.
An astonishing 85 bodies - mostly men - have been pulled from the city's waterways in the last seven years.
The cause behind the majority of the deaths are believed to have been established, but 28 are still classified as 'unexplained'.
I don't watch TV like that, and I'm not a conspiracy person or believe the world is full of serial killers, but that's still a bit ****ed. I know northerners can't handle their booze, but why would one of the dudes' parents have heard him screaming on the phone?
