  1. I can categorically assure you that I am not.

You were trying to wum on the basis that Spurs are continuing to pay Adebayor's wages even though he has left the club, when it is patently clear that, if Adebayor is being paid by the club it is as a result of contractual obligations relating to the termination of his contract with the club. The conditions of any such contract would not affect his ability to sign for another club, because they are part of his termination, but they may (although not necessarily so) affect the amount of monies he is paid in the event that he does sign for another club. Any such contract would not have any affect on the club seeking to engage the player.

Please don't try and wum me on the construction of contracts, Pixie. I can assure you that I will make a fool of you every single time.

You're not doing a very good job so far <laugh>

Clearly you don't understand the terms and conditions that can be stipulated within a severance package. The deal relates to what happens to Adebayor, therefore if Adebayor wants to sign for another club, the terms and conditions of that deal apply to the 'buying' club, because they directly relate to what appears to have been stipulated in the severance package. It appears to have been very specifically inserted into this severance deal. It makes sense, otherwise the 'buying' club could simply sign him up and pay him a peppercorn wage, knowing that Spurs will pick up the rest of his 'wages'. It also makes sense, because Spurs will naturally want to shift as much of this £100k per week onto somebody else, seeing as he no longer plays for them.

I'm still waiting for you to provide evidence as you claimed, that both Adebayor and Spurs said, that what had been reported wasn't the case. <ok>

my mate is on a years gardening leave, where his old company are paying him for a year to not join his new company, and his new company have also been paying him for the last 6 months. he is laughing his cock off at getting double bubble for the last 6 months :)

basically this is what Spurs & Adebayor are doing - he is being paid gardening leave until summer 2016 irrespective of of he gets employed by another club before then or not.

the contract termination/severance package is alleged to be £100k a week, paid in instalments rather than a lump sum*.

if another club offer him a job but at less money than what he is getting now then he is likely to turn it down [as he is a mercenary ****] as he will want "his going rate". but in reality if he gets offered £80k a week by new club then the balance of £20k would be paid by his ongoing contract with Spurs.

*most club managers when they get sacked are given a severance package that is paid in instalments instead of getting their remaining years deal paid off in a lump sum. the payment is for loss of employment and for loss of earnings and future earnings. if manager joins a new club then he no longer has loss of employment or loss of future earnings and so severance package is then ended.

If you don't care, then why are you here ?

It hasn't backfired at all. I've simply pointed out what the Telegraph and Independent (amongst others) are reporting about the terms of Adebayor's severance package, and a couple of Spuds have had a hissy fit about it.

Piskie, when you not trying to get into a pissing contest, I think you're a decent poster. Why don't you just admit that your attempt to WUM the spuds on here has ****ed up and move on.

It hasn't though mate. What I've pointed out is that Spurs are paying Adebayor £100k per week, unless another club come in and negotiate with Levy over meeting some of that figure. A few of them have tried to pull it apart, but the fact remains, Spurs are paying (reportedly still their highest earner at the club) for not even playing for them.

I know how it works, but that's not what is says. Termination of contract - both the player's and he club's words, is just that. It means you're free to work for somebody else now & that your contract has been settled.

My guess is that a reduced lump sum was paid, and that he's now free to join whoever he wants.

The thing is though, that even if they've terminated his contract. A severance package can still be negotiated with these terms. Adebayor is free to sign for another club, but unless they pay what he was earning at Spurs, then Spurs are obliged to make up the difference. That's what's being reported.

We're all aware of what's being reported. That doesn't make it fact! There is absolutely no way he would have been released from his contract with payment in full. They'd have had him polishing boots, or something. If he's been paid weekly/monthly that will have been up to an agreed figure. My bet is that he has received a one off payment that has terminated his contract.

He ceases to be our player very soon.
