Booked a cottage in Dedham Vale for the whole family in May, then off on my own by train around Europe in June. Lovely stuff.

It's been a great year travel wise and I guess foreign travel has been like buses, nothing in fact since 2009 (Bit more than 3 now I think about it! Unless Wales counts!) then 3 in a 12 month period. I also went to Istanbul on business last year my first foreign trip with work, unfortunitely that was all work and no play so I really didn't get to sample the city.
I'm hitting the 40 zone, so a lot of my friends are too. One who lives in kenya now has suggested that we should all join him in 2017 to climb Killimanjaro for his/our 40th and then go on safari. I'm tempted but will as ever have to see how it falls, time and price wise. Her indoors won't want to do the climb and being a teacher is restricted on the when. If I'm gonna do it on my todd then I'd better start sucking up already!

    Bah!

Overnight ferry from Harwich to Amsterdam via The Hook, then on from there!

Want to take in the Bernina Express or the Glacier Express (or both), the scenic trains through the Swiss Alps, so will head down there eventually.

Munich to Verona goes through the Brenner Pass in the Tyrol, so will probably do that on the way. It’s half the fun looking at what you can do!

    No, I know that.
It just seemed odd that Thurnby mentioned the same thing, i.e. Interrail passes - so I hastily cobbled together a proposed itinerary for you both <laugh>

Went to Relish in Newton Flotman last night to take the gf out for her Birthday. What a wonderful meal. If you haven't been, I highly recommend. Fine dining at a reasonable price. The food was gorgeous.

I've done it before, the first time Amsterdam - Prague - Vienna - Venice - Florence - Rome, then Bremen - Berlin - Malmo - Copenhagen - Gothenburg - Oslo on a second trip.

Thoroughly enjoyed both trips, but would recommend trying to make heavy use of overnight trains. Otherwise your journeys can quickly take whole days out of your trip for the longer distances.

    Anyone watching the Snooker Masters?

I always do this, just scanning through channels when I got in, saw snooker was on, watching it, loving it. I see it's the Semi Final!! They need to advertise these more. I always only realise it's on when it's basically over!

The match yesterday between Trump and Robertson was classic match-play snooker at it's absolute best <ok>
Finished 6 - 5 to Judd Trump and was totally compulsive viewing.

I love snooker, and I miss so much of it through not knowing it's on. Gutted!
