Soon we're going to have to get to that. Long term competing on salary will be more important than transfer fees.
Need to get more seats and generate a higher income first. I doubt the existing budget would be sufficient to pay anywhere near that sort of salary.
To be fair though the gate receipts will become an increasingly small proportion of income relative to the new TV deal. Naismith and no doubt others are all going to be advised by their agents that all PL teams will be getting 50% more than previous with no other cost increases apart from perhaps starting to pay the living wage. They will all want that increased money. I have no idea what our current top earner gets but If it's e.g. £40K then a 50% uplift would hit the £60K mark so maybe it's not that crazier demand. But if you start paying those sort of wages then surely you'd have to look at increasing the size of salary drop in relegation clauses. Bah!
I meant the new to deal will lead to a significantly higher budget not that we are going to expand. Not to go off topic but apparently Anglia square and the surrounding area has recently been sold for development, I've always felt that site would be perfect for a new city centre stadium.
Ah, ok I know it's been done to death before but an inner city stadium? I would dread it if I was still living in the UK and going every home game. The infrastructure in Norwich is not up to the job. Sadly perhaps as I do think an inner city location would be great, just not practical.
According to this, he wants to hold fire until summer - in case more lucrative offers come in In which case, is that the sort of "commitment" we need at NCFC http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/footb...r-target-steven-7168367#ICID=sharebar_twitter
It also could upset the balance of the squad if someone comes in on an inflated salary compared to the rest. Big decision.
That's the other "problem". Once you do it for one player, others must follow at some point in time to retain harmony in the squad.
Next one Norwich are now into 2/1 from 10/1 to sign #CPFC midfielder Mile Jedinak. HERE -> bit.ly/VictorTransfers #NCFC
If he is so bothered about getting a lucrative new contract in the summer, why not come to us, sign a contract for what he can get, work his Ass off and then use a potentially stronger position having played some football to leave if anyone is still interested or stay if no one is? Playing no football and showing a slightly poor atitude now will not help him enormously in the summer. Afterall if no ones offering him better than us now, how much does anyone else really want him? Greedy footballer bar steward! Bah!
Haller maybe... not convinced by Andre Gray. I know he has done well for Burnley but every time i saw him for Brentford he was missing sitters! Not too disimilar to Grabban imo. Id rather go for Haller and Eder. I know the outlay would be much more but we could afford it if we are no longer getting Naismith?
Superb MFW piece on how football fans need to keep a little perspective during the lunacy of the transfer window. I wonder if that applies to any of us on this forum.........? http://norwichcity.myfootballwriter...ranoia/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter
