Not too fussed really - it's a free, short term solution. Will play back up once everyone is fit, and allows us to spend properly in the summer. it also means we don't have to rely on Lucas, Enrique and Toure away from the first team.
I bet he'll have a blinder of a half-season and everyone'll be moaning about how we didn't agree a purchase clause. That'll probably be Rodgers' fault as well.
yes toure is well past it but.. he's getting paid and is fit.. is caulker any better til may? Gomez is the only long standing injury there... lovern might be back in a week and skertl max 3? thats very short term.... unless we don't know something Sahko is a risk. the way klopp phrased it it sounds like the first challenge never mind the latest one was not fully recovered. He could go out for sure Ilori is what he is. Thats still 3 mouths to feed 4 of which should be fit in max 3 weeks. For me klopp has drawn in ilori as it was in effect largely free to do so. we would have to pay his wages i suppose. If we bring in caulker we will be paying a mil min plus wages for waht? cos ilori is too slight or too unfit. He reminds me of a certain player mr benetiz brought in ... a total pudding that is more of a waste of space than anything.... I can see how if we have league cup final, fa cup and then europa (he's english, he could be registered maybe but i'm not sure he can be, might be cup tied but might not fit HG rules) plus league then it might avoid a risk but if the risk occurs i can see lads saying WTF are we at looking at him. I'd rather leave it as is, but i'm on the ouside and the players medical condition might be worse than i know.
anyway... sigh.. this is a done deal now. Liverpool have signed Queens Park Rangers central defender Steven Caulker on loan until the end of season. The 24-year-old was on loan at Southampton but that agreement has been cancelled immediately to allow him to move to Anfield. The paperwork was completed in time for him to be eligible to face Arsenal in the Premier League on Wednesday - if included in the squad. Liverpool have been hit by a succession of injuries to central defenders. my ****y even has it. end of arguement. another mouth to feed from bottom half. he was once thought of by england.
course we have a choice... but we could have been told that sahko was ok as a smokescreen then we've done this as well.
Caulker signing is win win... IMHO.. If he's called upon and plays well, we benefit.. If not, its only a loan and no harm done. From what I can gather its a loan only, no obligation to buy..
Absolutely, we need cover there, needed it before the injuries but even more so now. Think it's a shrewd deal really for the reasons you state. Caulker is at a good age, has good stature, presumably willing to improve, will be up for it under Klopp. He can't be any worse then Lovren all last season and for the first quarter of this one. Hopefully he's robust !!
Klopp is just like Rodgers with the Southampton obsession, only he's less obvious by getting players who've been farmed out on loan there so it's like we're not actually buying Southampton product when really we are. See, he will win us trophies #genius
I think every single "neutral" and rival will say... hang on are you lot talking yourselves into this. Have you seen the guy? I think those questions will come and it'll come down to what the guy does if he gets a game. Just like i said for ilori the guy needs to get his arse up the road and really go to work cos you don't get many more chances at his age, tottenham to cardiff to qpr. He did ok at spurs and got a huge amount of experience on loan for for a 24 year old to have about 200 games under his belt in league action aint bad. He made a disastrous decision to join cardiff and followed it up going to QPR This is actually the first year he's not played much the thing is........ he could be very very cheap to get but is that the main consideration?
