On current form Bassong would be dropped. Might depend on what characteristics the new defender has though.
We've kept 2 clean sheets in our last 2 Premier League games and generally been better in defence, so I wonder if AN would change anything until we start letting more in again.
They are not short of cash as has been seen. Iturbe and Afobe are stellar signings for them and then there's Grabban ......
£7m!? Wow. Great to get shot, unreal price for him. Getting that money in better really kick start our player search! Just just let it sit there like Johnsons fee.
Wow. Despite his scoring against the scum, the equaliser against Arsenal and a good Championship goal haul I will unfortunately remember him for the open goal misses, the near constant offsides and of course the Rotheram incident. Still that is seriously good money just leaving me scratching my head as to how Bournemouth will pass FFP even if they stay up.
That was pretty much on the cards anyway, after such a low net spend last summer. Hopefully this will be earmarked for a decent CB kitty
Not a bad little profit, bought him for 3 million and sell him for 8 million. Suspect we'll hear about Naismith joining soon.
I'm sure there will be a clause that LG can't play against us (perhaps that's only for loans though!!!), but I'd definitely bet on Afobe to score!!!
Really no point in fair play. QPR got away with it, Bournemouth have got away with it, they will continue to do so, just like QPR. Typically it's clubs we fight for Promotion and Relegation.
From the same club too! The merits of selling to a rival club have been discussed plenty, but I think what is reassuring is that we don't want him, and by the responses of many Bournemouth fans - they don't want him either. Him leaving doesn't weaken our team, if anything it might remove some discord from the changing room. Whilst I've no doubt Eddie Howe feels he can get more out of him than Neyul and Neil have, at best he's going there to be 3rd choice behind Wilson, Afobe and Murray. I rate Josh King more highly too. Also, the way Bournemouth are spending this month, if they didn't buy Grabban they'd no doubt have found another striker to splash a similar amount on. And that could have been someone to rival their top strikers. I'm happier the money is in our pocket than someone else's.
I still don't like the idea of selling to rival clubs but for silly money you can't say no really and you are right, they might have signed a better player if they didn't sign Grabban but I think they have already with Afobe. But some Bournemouth fans seem happy judging by the tweets he's getting from them.
One thing you do have to say. Grabban will be so fired up for the rest of the season. He's gonna bust a nutt.
Rob Butler has tweeted saying Naismith is far from a done deal as he's unsure about whether he wants to relocate. Well **** him then he can go and grow a pair ! Once again this transfer window is turning into a farce for us. I know, I know, there's still several days left but it doesn't fill you with confidence does it ?
Maybe give them a couple of minutes to receive the transfer fee in their account before saying we haven't spent it.
To quote Bournemouth fans from reddit: "Grabban is an idiotic purchase. The fee is insane & he's a bang average striker with atrocious finishing." "£8m is ludicrous. If the figure is true I really hope the deal is structured so it only gets to that amount if we stay up for 2 seasons or something." In response to the rumoured fee being high... "too true, he aint that good" "We now have Wilson, King, Murray, Kermorgant, Rantie, Afobe, Grabban, for our 4-5-1 formation. Is this Eddie transitioning into a 4-4-2?" "grabban is so overrated. He aint a prem striker. Didnt rate him when he was with us before (one of them strikers that is always in the right place, but actually cant finish anyway. Misses boatlads of chances but still could get 15 a season in the championship) and dont rate him now. Could have spent this money better" "Not to sure if I happy about him coming back. But I imagine is Max wants to do everything to stay in the prem and Eddie is signing Players that he knows will work with the way we play. You cant fault him at all, especially with a fine if we go down. The money from staying in the prem could keep the club alive forever. 5 years ago we didn't have £7m to our name and the fans were practially keeping the club going week 2 week. Now we can splash that on 2 players in a week, we are truly being rewarded in the finest fashion." "we are so guilty of overpaying for players." I'm not even selectively quoting the bad stuff!
