My problem with this, and arguably our wider transfer policy, is that we value players, our own and those we're interested in, regardless of how much interest they're generating. And in terms of strikers, we could definitely lose a couple without blinking.

Leeds appear to be Lafferty's only option, and we've scared them off by demanding a permanent transfer. If we can't find another suitor, that's cost us potentially £300k in his wages over the rest of the season, and him rotting in our reserves doesn't make him easier to sell in the summer. Why do we not appear to be negotiating?

Why hold out for "fair" prices for out own players, even when we don't want them here, if selling them cheaper frees up the capital to make another deal work?

Thing is I suspect we want to sort out our players coming in before we worry too much about those going out. If we don't sign another striker we may need to keep Lafferty. Also Lafferty is very different in one respect from all the other players we might want to sell in that he can not play for us all season, but if he has a good euros his value could potentially still increase. If all else fails we can still revisit a loan deal for him from Leeds towards the end of the window.

Steve Evans has already hinted that he's accepted it's hit a wall and is looking elsewhere.
Why would he be held to ransom just because Norwich dither / fail to enter into negotiations?

But they haven't signed anyone, so it's still all to play for and if it doesn't happen so what, there's always the summer. Our problem seems to be finding players that we want who want to come to Norwich. I'm not sure we'd want to sell Lafferty unless we signed another striker. If we do get another striker then we are probably looking to sell Lafferty or Grabben and of the 2 I'd much rather sell Grabben.

I think your last sentence sums it all up for me - especially when you say we don't want them here!! I mean, Grabban wasn't even on the bench yesterday!!!!

Do people honestly get paid to write drivel like this? <yikes>
AN said at the press conference this week that there was no interest in Lamine Kone, whose move to Sunderland broke down this week.
Now a guy, Gbamin, from Lens tenuously linked via french media and all of a sudden
"it is now evident that the club are clearly keen on a defender from France, with Gbamin now linked".

Give me strength! I wonder if they've bothered telling Alex Neil that? <doh>

He's crap and mainly a RWB/CDM. Hopefully nonsense.

Our problem isnt finding players who want to come to Norwich! Players will come if they are offered sufficient wages. Our problem is that our board pussyfoot around offering crap bids followed by crap wages. Brady for example, took ages to get sorted. Alderweireld might even have come if we had offered HIM what he is worth.

The latter might have been a little out of our range but its the poor offers we make that put players off coming.

Afobe now confirmed at Bournemouth for £10m.

Well all i can say is that our lot better have a plan or we will suffer at the hands of those who have done some very good business! :emoticon-0107-sweat

Surely we could have afforded that and I feel it was a risk worth taking - especially if we'd offloaded Grabban to Bournemouth as well.

It's pathetic if we couldnt afford that! Especially as (like i said earlier) this is our 4th year in the PL out of the last 5! WTF have we spent the money on if we havent got £10m?!?!
