Jermaine Jenas has formally announced his retirement. He's only 32. His last game was for us in our win against Forest in 2014, where he picked up his final knee injury. I always thought he was a very good player, career ruined by being a crock, but still managed 21 caps. I remember him absolutely bossing a home game v Sunderland for us in our last but one relegation season. If only we could have seen a bit more of that.
Always liked Jenas - a very good player and now a decent pundit. He seems very down-to-earth and perhaps he can thank one of our ex-managers for that. I heard Jenas recently describing his time as a kid at Forest under Paul Hart. Apparently, Hart used to make the young players bring their bank statements in each month so that he could check that they weren't chucking their money around. When he wanted to buy a car, Jenas had to consult Hart as to what make and model was appropriate!
Seems a divisive player, to save time all arguments neatly captured here....wait for the Taarabt reference at the end
**** me Watford, you don't seem to rate many players mate. IMO Jenas was an excellent player in his younger days, with real pace, skill and stamina. Very unfortunate with injuries and he seems quite articulate in his new career in the media. I wish him well.
He was a great player Very talented and did well for us IMO Again the problem lies in what our fan base thinks we should have playing for us We blew it with a very poor running of a football club from top to the players Still new dawn now just think a few of our fans should wise up a bit Nothing good going to happen until the club sorts itself out IMO
I think SB's video sums him up very well. He was happy to coast through games and was incredibly ineffective for us in the vast majority of games even in the Championship. I like lots of players. We just don't seem to sign many of them.
