And you think that a large part of Sturridges issues aren't? He's Louis Saha II. A brilliant player, who's constantly convinced that his body is about to let him down. I loved Saha at Everton, one of the best players in his position in the game on his day, he could be sublime. But his days were few and far between, as he spent most of his time on the treatment table.
The year we bought Kewell I was on a week long management course at Elland Rd (really good, truth be told). Mostly Leeds fans on it, still pissed off at how cheap we got Kewell, his agent, etc. The last day we got a showaround the stadium by John McLellan (sp). ****ing mint, really sound bloke. Said it was a bigger privilege to play against Rush and Dalglish than it was to play in a WC (for NI). Anyway, the subject turned to Kewell, and I said he looked good but we were waiting for him to get fully fit till we saw the best of him. "Good luck with that - the lad's never off the treatment table. Won't play with the slightest pain unless his agent tells him he can. Ridiculously talented, but a complete wimp. No heart, you'll see". I thought he was just hamming it up for the Leeds fans. Could weep.
How about we get Kaley Cuoco to sing Soft Kitty to him? It'd work for me. Maybe that should be the song Studge apparently wants.
And again "Daniel Sturridge will not be available for Liverpool's League Cup semi-final first leg at Stoke after suffering a minor setback in his recovery from a hamstring injury in training." http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/35155369
If we prescribe him some high grade(non lethal) painkiller 24 hours a day then he has no reason to complain. He could play every game, every minute. Even if his leg falls off. #ontosomething
May score in the wrong net occasionally depending on which direction he is facing when he gets the ball. #flawinplan
So as he likes to dance, if we put some Grime music (or whatever he likes) on the speakers at Anfield, his body will overrule his mind and he will jump onto the pitch. #flawlessplan #reallyisflawless
Time for Sturridge to start a new career as a crash test dummy. If Sturridge can survive a 30mph head on collision in your car without getting an injury that has to be a major selling point.
Klopp also confirmed that striker Daniel Sturridge will miss out on the clash with Mark Hughes' men at the Britannia Stadium. The No.15 has, in the manager's words, been working through a 'mini pre-season' in recent weeks, but he will only be considered for a comeback once he has completed a number of consecutive training sessions. The boss added: "Maybe you have the feeling that we trained now for three weeks with Daniel and say every day, 'more, more, more, more', and every day he's fitter and fitter and in the end I say, 'no, I wait'. "It's not like this. Daniel had some problems in these weeks, not serious, but then he could not make the next session and we had to wait a day or something like this. "[It's] how a pre-season can be. It's a pre-season without games so it should not happen too much but some little things happened, we always have to handle this. "It's not a row of sessions and now we are here. I'm the first who will pick him when he's available, when he's ready for this, I will never hold him back. "In this moment because he didn't have one session with the team, which was the usual plan for this week, he's not available. "What we are trying to do now is to fill his body with energy and strength and everything, that's what we have to do. "It would be easy for me to say, 'come on, let's try, we have problems, we don't score enough goals, bring him and let's see what happens', but that's where we have to be patient. We have to wait."
This has to be the last time this happens, no point in having him if this is going to keep happening. Has to play the whole of next season (except for minor injuries, ie 1 or 2 games out). Frustrating thing is, that despite being massively injury prone he's still the best striker we have and would go straight back into the first team. Why haven't we bought a similar striker to him to cover for the injuries?
His mentality doesn't help. Gerrard said how he basically had to beg him to play United in the 13/14 season because he felt a niggle, and the med staff couldn't find anything wrong and said he was good to play! He's a lazy guy who's not making the most of his talents. I'm not saying his injuries have all been over exaggerated, but I am saying that a little bit more of Suarez' passion and drive wouldn't go amiss
