In his post match interview, Guus said "don't go over the top" and of course he's right. However after seeing bits and pieces of today's match (during my local track's raceday of the year) i have to lay my cards on the table, and say maybe instead of all this Guardiola and Simeone talk we should give Guus the job. I say "we", but this is all down to Roman. At the end of the day i will go with his decision, but if it was my call i would say, Guus... come on down. I would give all the facts and lay down my defence for the propisition but i'm too tired and pissed. The only thing i would say is.....like in the old days when we got promotion from the 2nd division...Chelsea are back, Chelsea are back 'ello ello'. That last statement is for the old farts here who remember the bad old days when surviving relegation was a good season !!!
I just think that players are far less likely to throw a strop with Gus Hiddink at the helm. Gus Hiddink strikes me as being an easy going manager - exactly the right man to calm the turmoil of the last weeks under Jose Mourinho.
Yes. I can imagine Jose being very regimented and works the players very hard. Guus is a lot calmer I reckon and the players seem to be responding.
Mate we have one of the top 3 squads in the league. If we were at the top challenging for the title, everyone would be saying what a top performance it was.
I think its more a case of no excuses time to perform. Thankfully will get to listen to talkshite sounding gutted we won!

Yep ACB, Mark Hughes is a fair shout. A Chelsea man through and through. As well as playing and winning trophies with us we were the team he supported as a boy. Can certainly see him as a future manager here with J.T. on board as well. As for Guus i think a 3 year contract would be ideal to stabilise the Club. Age, in fairness, never stopped Fergie from doing a good job ! Bet Utd fans wish he was still there !!!

Another old fart giving his twopence worth here. Gus knows its till the end of the season and he calls the shots just as he did last time. If he decides to stay I will be pleased. Rekon he advised Roman the last time and cannot think it will be different this. I was pleased with John Obi but felt Zouma was the outstanding player on the day against CP. I haven't seen too many defenders outpace Zaha. Also his general play great, we need him. Ivan needs to go somewhere else and learn how to pas/cross the ball however, defensively he was better. I never thought I would say this, but here goes.................We are a better team without Hazard. Now where is my tin hat!

If Guus is manager next year, I imagine it's because Roman has not managed to attract Pep and maybe Simeone. Really need a younger / hungrier guy if we're looking at a more long term project.
Pep has just announced he is heading to the P.L next and has offers. Could make a case for at least 3 clubs being in for him; though depends if United are really grooming Giggs or not. Personally I assume it's City and not been confirmed by either Pep or City so as to not undermine Pellegrinni mid season.
Who gives a **** how old he is? Makes no difference to me one way or another. This whole "long term" thing is a pipe dream. I cannot envision ANY manager staying with us for more than 3-4 years these days. First time he has a trophyless season, boom, he is out the door. Its how the PL works these days. Situations like SAF and Wenger hanging around for 20 years will be a thing of the past. Everything is about immediate success. And any sign that a clubs fortune are on the wane, even slightly and the manager will be the first out the door.
I agree to a point but I think Jose would have received a fair amount of time had our season not imploded so spectacularly. If we were 6th or 7th now I'm sure he'd still be at the club. So I don't think it's a case of trophy less season as it may have been a few years ago....just don't completely **** up!! Whilst we have had many years of chopping and changing, I'm sure the club is looking to try and get someone in who will go 5 years plus and we're less likely to get that with a 70 year old. Even if it means planning for 5 years and changing after 3!!
I am all for stability, I just don't think it is realistic these days. My main concern is whether the manager is any good or not to be honest. I would take Guus on a 3-4 year contract, one last big contract before he retires. If he delivers the goods this season of course. I think Roman may well offer him it as well if he fails to land Guardiola or Simeone. Heck i'd even have Ancelotti back to be honest. Won our only double under him, scoring 103 goals in the process, always thought he was treated unfairly by Roman.
