We all knew a 'so called' weakened team would be fielded for the cup but to outright say it doesn't matter is ill judged, at least most managers try and pretend they care. Or maybe we should just appreciate the honesty?

This. Wasn't JFH an FA Cup winner? You'd think he'd have some more respect for it.

Well, yeah, that's what I said. Unless you were thinking that if it's a draw we can play on the 30th and it counts as a league and FA cup fixture?

He is picking from what he has available, until you actually go down the training ground and observe that what he picks is worse than what he leaves out , please give it a rest with ya constant negativity FF'S.

When he's picking Fer and Green in particular, it's pretty much impossible that the alternatives would be worse. We've got some genuinely exciting young and youngish players who are being left out. Even if the likes of Onuoha (at right-back!!!), Konchesky, Henry, Green and Fer were marginally better than their understudies, which would suggest those understudies are pretty dreadful footballers, this club is going nowhere but downwards with them in the side and we've the added bonus of frustrating the likes of Luongo, Gladwin, Chery, Harriman and Yun to the point they'd want out.

Go get 'em lads, perhaps with this sort of line-up:-

Verona Stars 0-10 QPR: Double figures for Chris Ramsey's side in pre-season opener
    • Verona Stars stepped in to replace Shakhtar Donetsk in Saturday's friendly
    • Ukrainian side Donetsk pulled out of the pre-season game at late notice
    • Verona Stars were rewarded with a pounding against the west London side
    • Chris Ramsey's side reached double figures against the rookie Italians

Queens Park Rangers got their pre-season off to the perfect start with a 10-0 demolition job of make-shift opponents Verona Stars on Saturday.

The Hoops were due to play Shakhtar Donetsk, but saw their Ukrainian opponents withdraw at late notice before Italian rookies Verona Stars filled in.

They will probably wish they hadn’t with Samba Diakite (twice), Sebastian Polter, Clint Hill, Alejandro Faurlin, Reece Grego-Cox, Ben Gladwin (twice) Jay Emmanuel-Thomas and Junior Hoilett all getting their names on the score sheet.

Matt Phillips takes aim as he looks to get among the goalscorers during Saturday's comprehensive victory

It couldn’t have started much easier as Chris Ramsey’s side found themselves two goals to the good inside just eight minutes as Matt Phillips neat delivery found Diakite who rifled home.

The Senegalese midfielder bagged his second goal of the game just 60 seconds later as he capitalised on a defensive error to slot the ball past Matteo D’Amario.

Verona Stars were well and truly under the cosh, but managed to stay strong in defence before new signing Polter finally added a third on the stroke of half time.

Hoops centre back Steven Caulker holds the ball up as he looks to protect QPR's clean sheet on Saturday

Phillips was again the man with the assist as he found the German in plenty of space, coolly controlling the ball on his chest before volleying an effort into the goal.

As in all friendlies at this stage of pre-season substitutions were at an abundance as the sides prepared for the second half.

    MATCH FACTS
QPR first half: Green; Kpekawa, Caulker, Onuoha (C), Schorch; Diakite, Luongo, Gobern, Phillips; Mackie; Polter

QPR second half: McCarthy; Furlong, Caulker (Onuoha 68), Hill (C), Comley; Hoilett, Doughty, Faurlin, Gladwin; Grego-Cox; Emmanuel-Thomas

    Goals: Diakite (7 & 8), Polter (44), Hill (54), Faurlin (71), Grego-Cox (74), Gladwin (78 & 88), Emmanuel-Thomas (80), Hoilett (81)

But those replacements did not halt QPR’s dominance as Clint Hill bundled the ball home four a fourth less than ten minutes after the re-start.

It was 5-0 on 71 minutes as Faurlin swept home after good work from new boy Emmanuel-Thomas before Grego-Cox smashed home for six three minutes later.

The goals continued to flow in the latter stages of the game as Gladwin netted from close range after yet more good work from Emmanuel-Thomas.

And the former Arsenal and Bristol City player was given the chance to celebrate for himself in the 80th minute when he finished past D’Amario.

Hoilett and Gladwin completed the rout in the final minutes as Ramsey’s side hit double figures against the Italian side.

The more I think about it, the fact that JFH doesn't like the FA Cup and is going to play some reserves, means that, ironically, he may end up picking a lot of players that he should have been picking in the first place.
