Two that interest me from Stan James Vautour 12/1 for the Gold Cup The New One 20/1 for the World Hurdle
Played up some of the Christmas winnings on an €8 win yankee on day 1: Supreme Min 4/1 Arkle Douvan 4/5 Chapion Hurdle Faugheen 4/5 Mares Hurdle Annie Power Evs Pays €1036.16 if all 4 win.
Thats not a bad bet Oddy, might do the same with my Long Dog winings today.Slight concern is Annie Power won't make it to the festivel but Willie will hopefully have her spot on.
I wonder if they are considering Vroum Vroum Mag for the Mares hurdle after sending her for a spin over them earlier this week here? If Annie Power doesn't make it, it's a possibility I'd say.
Annie is on track at the moment according to his last update- the thought process was whether he could get a run into her beforehand I think. no run = Mares, run = possibility of World Hurdle I believe.
*Beefy rips up Vautour GC tickets and KG & GC double tickets* But smiles broadly at his Faugheen and Douvan dockets
What's your views on Arctic fire going for the world hurdle . Engaged to run over 3m tomorrow . If it wins that well price sure to tumble ?
Needs to get the trip first and foremost, has always looked a speed horse to me. Alpha des Obeaux will give us a tie to the Thistlecrack form from last spring.
Couldn't have him over 3m tomorrow at all. This horse has loads of speed, I'd be dubious enough of him settling over that trip.
L'Ami Serge is set for chasing debut at Plumpton on Sunday. He looks the one final challenger at shaking up the Arkle market. I have that race between he, Vaniteux, and Douvan, with the latter being the heavy favourite. I'm trying to get a narrowed down view of the opening days races. My thoughts at the moment are as follows: Supreme: MIN BOUVEUR D'AIR Arkle: DOUVAN VANITEUX L'AMI SERGE Champion Hurdle FAUGHEEN NICHOLS CANYON ARCTIC FIRE Like every year, the Supreme gives me the most trouble but I do really like the chances of Bouveur D'air in this and Min, although a very different type of horse to Vautour and Douvan, was nimble and quick, so deserves respect but looks a touch underpriced to me. Where would you begin to narrow it down on day one? We could do a day by day discussion for the Tues-Fri at Cheltenham as it will roll around quite fast now from here.
I'll be getting plenty of threads up in January Toppy - signed off sick the whole month. Stick with Rich Ricci on day 1 - Min, Douvan, Faugheen, Annie Power
Now that everyone's cottoned onto Djakadam's rather long price and he's shortened to 4/1 (now too short imho) the best ante post bet at the current prices is without a shadow of doubt in my mind, Nichols Canyon at 7/1 each way.
It's almost too obvious isn't it Bob. One concern would be his below form showing at Chelts last year- I do like course form so Arcitic Fire I like e/w, I think he's class and ran a blinder last year.
Willie said Annie is on target to make it and will run in the mares race if she hasn't had a prep run. If she has a prep run they will consider the world hurdle.
At 7/1 I think Nichols is now a poor value each way bet as you've immediately lost the win part I like my each way bets to have a reasonable win chance and I think Nichols Canyon has zero chance of beating Faugheen in March. Looking like my Yorkhill Neptune dream is hanging by a thread just about to snap. Blasted Bellshill has found a wee bit more zip than I thought he had (originally looked a resolute galloper to me so reeked Albert Bartlett) so seems Neptune bound now. Add in the fact we have Up for Review stamping himself as one of the AB favourites yesterday. A Tolworth romp tomorrow for Yorkhill will possibly seal the deal. Looks like Graham Wylie has a handful of serious hurdlers to take on everyone's favourite American ex banker In better antepost news the Shantou Village form is again looking very decent with Champers on Ice now having won his next two starts after getting absolutely routed by my beast. It's looking like there's some strong novice hurdlers around!
He has a great chance of beating Faugheen if he can put him under pressure. Faugeen's been under pressure once in his career and flopped. We'll see come March Beefy but he definitely has a chance of beating Faugheen in my eyes.
