Grimsby want to hang on to Townsend and have him sign a pre contract, but they're confident he will move to a football league club next month.

I think it would be worth us looking at Daryl Murphy. Yes, he's 32 - but do we need resale value on a cheap player if he helps get us promoted?

He's a big guy who can hold the ball up - we don't have anybody like that really, only Diame, who isn't a striker.

He's scored 7 goals so far this season, scored 27 last year and 13 the year before that... he's in the last 6 months of his contract, so won't be expensive.
I think he'd be a good foil for Hernandez, would be ideal if we have to play 1 up top (like we've been forced to recently) and he'd thrive on all the crosses into the box.

Didn't he score a hatty in a game, and apart from that hasn't looked that great this year?

Elmo and Huddlestone can go for me! Both of them arent up for it, going on past merits Id thank elmo for what he's done, Huddlestone not so much, one of the worst overrated players I've seen.

Murphy would be ideal but don't expect any favours from any top half championship club,
Ipswich would knock back any approach for him even if he was sat on the bench every week while they are in or near the play offs.

We should have made Gray priority number one in the summer. He's the leading scorer in the Championship with 15 goals, he may have looked gash at our place, but you don't score 15 goals by accident.

I'd be having a look at Nick Blackman at Reading or Ross McCormack at Fulham. I'd also try and loan or buy Grabban from Norwich - particularly if they sign Naismith.

Midfielder - Kevin McDonald at Wolves. He looks a decent player, just in a poor team.
