Goons going top...Bournemouth not in the game at all...but fun watching west ham fall apart and the United Chelsea match is unbelievably weird...great goalkeeping but some of the worst finishing ever...Matic <laugh>

It's looking increasingly likely that it's going to be down to us to stop Arsenal winning the league. If ever there was a greater incentive to finish above them, I'd like to hear it!

Yeah, but wouldn't it be great to win the league whilst, simultaneously, denying Arsenal!

Pixie and IQ87 would spontaneously combust!

We will never win the title in my lifetime imo...am absolutely convinced of it so can not even imagine us doing it under any circumstances

How much did the chelsea and united players cost to produce this?
Steve Mcmanaman thinks united have been great so I obviously know nothing

"We will never win the title in my lifetime imo"

Your spouse is simultaneously checking the PL table and whether your life
insurance policies are up to date ...

That's the first time I've heard that term used and it's an intriguing one. I guess in a league as physical and fast-paced as the PL, in weather as bad as England's with no winter break, you absolutely do need a 'critical mass' of players who play with their heart on their sleeve. I think this was our single greatest failing in AVB's second season and it only marginally improved under Interim Tim because he at least had bags of passion under that gillet. We rapidly went from having Brad,Ledley, Daws, Paker, VDV etc. - players who played like they genuinely cared about the club, to a collection of misfits who appeared to genuinely not give a toss.

Now that I think about it, how many players can United, City, Chelsea, Liverpool boast of who truly wear their hearts on their sleeve? That is the single greatest benefit of investing in youth and bringing players through the academy; they care. And to the credit of our scouts, we've finally managed to bring in some players whose passion and commitment appears to be like-for-like in Dier, Toby and Alli. I'd even throw Lamela in there too, as much as I dislike tipping my hat to Baldini in any way, for the sheer fact that his dedication is second to none in most games.

"You need a keeper who stops everything, an assassin in defense, a striker who doesn't miss, a genius in midfield, and 7 donkeys who run all day," or words to that effect. The thing is, I can't remember who said it, except I'm 90% sure he was an Italian star, describing the perfect team.

Nereo Rocco, who won a shedload of domestic and international trophies with Milan in three spells during the 60s and 70s.

The exact quote is "a goalkeeper who saves everything, an assassin in defence, a genius in midfield, a goalscoring forward and seven donkeys who run all the time" - which, given Rocco is widely credited for/accused of creating catenaccio, certainly lives on in the bilge served up by the likes of Moronho and Van Galling for the past eighteen months.

Just watched the Everton v Stoke game on Football First. Great entertainment, Stoke snatch it at the death and still Mark Hughes can't smile. Loosen up a bit Mark, that was a good win for your boys.

Thats what united fans say about rooney <laugh>

<laugh> In fairness, I've seen a lot of comments from United fans saying that Rooney should be sold or that he has lost it, which is an opinion I share too. But if Mertesacker was genuinely that poor, Wenger would have gotten rid by now or he would have been on the bench with Paulista taking his place. Per certainly isn't the quickest defender, but he reads the game very well and that's why he's been a mainstay in the side.
