You will not find a sunderland fan saying the cheating was anything to do with crowd congestion but if the tannoy announced the result 15 min before the end of the match and there was only a 15 minute delay how did the fans know ages before.
Trust me, both teams knew the result before the announcement.

anyone know where he is being buried next time i go to blighty i want to show my respect

to the Sunderland fans and piss on his grave if i haven't already been beaten too it

The business of Coventry throwing the game has become an urban myth based on inaccurate reporting. I was at Highfield 'road that night and there was huge congestion but the delay was not down to cheating but opening the main stand for fans off the terraces to move to safety.

The game was at 2-2 when the Sunderland result was known ages before the tannoy announcement and with both teams safe they did what anyone would do and eased off. Not good for us but nowhere near the cheating that has lived for years.

Sorry but.... is this a serious post?

Its fully documented in the annals of history. Both written snd tv evidence.

You surely csn not dispute the evidence....

Many people may mourn him. Many SAFC folk will not.

Not the point. The announcement should not have been made. It was also posted on the scoreboard so the players had no doubt as to what they had to do.

He cheated. He broke the rules. The punishment should have been a points deduction. ie relegation. In this instance that punishment was not applied. Why not? could it have been something to do with the fact that the chairman of the disciplinary committee was a certain Mr James Hill?

I`m not going to labour the matter any further. As far as I`m concerned this gets buried with him but nothing will detract from the fact that the man was a cheating arsehole whatever spin you care to put on it.

Case closed.

Yep. Cant believe anyone csn candone hid actiond.

Yep. I agree

Slightly concerned if they have a minutes silence. This could tar us badly. Although he was a ****.....imo
F*ck a minutes silence for that c*nt. I will bring my club into disrepute. I would prefer a minutes booing letting the FA know they are still c*nts for virtually letting him off with it.

As a blanket reply to you all I am not defending Hill at all but just giving a first hand recollection of the event. There was chaos around the ground for close to an hour before the KO and the Sunderland game was being listened to on radios so the score was never a secret. The tannoy was made at the end of our game which was probably more stupid than cheating but did not alter the fact that events conspired to throw them into their last game the same time as ours.

That's is my last word on this as well as I did say in my OP that a lot of it was skewed reporting and not totally representative of it all that had happened and Sunderland fans will not let go of what they see as Hill pulling a fast one when in fact they got off the hook and like any other set of supporters were more than happy about it.

thats the way you see it, my dad and all his family saw it different, everyone has an opinion, i disagree with yours, he was a first rate ****, and it was him he started off sunderland last on the tv highlights, even when we were doing ok
